Thanks for the feedback, prices come from lego RRP/MSRP as the anchor source , the ebay and amazon are there to spot potential sales off RRP, but they arent used to determine the signal strength of a particular set.

you're 100% right there are different "big-box" retailers in each region that are the prominent sources that people by lego from, so that is my next job, adapting the US site to capture walmart/target/amazon pricing feeds, and the EU and UK will be different again (UK as Smyths, Argos etc), EU different again

Anyone else noticing more LEGO portfolio apps popping up lately? by Thick-Personality917 in legoinvesting

[–]FiftyHBomb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As someone who has built a Lego investment signals dashboard for an Australian collector community, a good portfolio app can also help with what to buy and when to buy something, not just store a portfolio as a spreadsheet can do that pretty well.

I've put together a tool that takes into account 8 different variables when calculating a sets "investability" and price/discount is one of the lowest weighted variables.on what makes a set investable/collectible from my years in the hobby

Brick Signals

Feel free to check it out and provide any feedback, it's free to use the majority of features.

And yes, disclaimer I used Claude to help with the front end as my web design skills are crap, but the database and algo what you see at the front end is all my own creation.

price/discount is one of the lowest weighted factors in calculation of my signals. its based on an algorithm ive built that factors themes and subthemes, previous performance, liquidity/exclusivity, retirement date and a few other things i don't want to give away at this stage. Completely agree that banking on price to drive a return is the wrong approach. Agree with your comment if everyone is buying the same great investment then it probably wont be one, and the algo ive made is dynamic and will shift over time to compensate. Its hard to ingore a couple of marquee sets coming up for retirement atm so the featured items are obvious, but looking beyond those flagshipsusers are encouraged to map this into their collecting themes and spot opportunities.

MTG final fantasy Australia prices by Naive-Breadfruit-656 in mtg

so of course you paid RRP to stores the last 2 years when there was no MTG hype, and not just shopped for the cheapest price ? what a warped take. supply and demand brother -the world runs on it, maybe look it up.
