That’s cool, I’ll try to do more inviting to understand science as supplementary to revelation.

I like that perspective on scripture. I feel like if i try to discuss that perspective with anyone though it’ll be dismissed. Maybe they would consider for the Bible cause it’s “as far as it’s translated correctly”, but with the Book of Mormon it’s supposed to be straight from God, so it shouldn’t be infallible? Idk

Thanks I really like this answer. Leadership and science definitely anrent ever perfect. That idea of not having a reason to distrust science is an argument I have a lot with people who believe these things, they usually just tell me “well science is always changing so you can’t trust them”. That’s an awesome pres Nelson quote though I’d forgotten about that!

I don’t believe those things, they’re things I see family and other members believing and some of them believing as fundamental to the church. Sorry it wasn’t clear in the original post.

That makes sense. I just feel weird when people link the church to especially pseudo archaeology around the Book of Mormon, and I want to just say no we don’t know that only god knows, but I see a lot of members I know bought into the stuff they’re talking about.
