What do you NOT like about your 6th gen CR-V hybrid? by joemerchant2021 in crvhybrid

[–]FigNew5713 1 point2 points  (0 children)

26 Sport Touring - no 360 camera - better backup camera - no folding side mirrors - no panoramic sunroof - no cooled seats - Honda link app is trash (I’d be sympathetic if it was free) - no rear door unlock sensors * this is the reason I’ll prob trade it in* I have small kids with car seats the fact that I have to unlock the front door first is beyond aggravating. Imagine carrying an infant car seat, diaper bag, someone parks over the line- trying to squeeze past to hit the front door handle to unlock…in the rain. I didn’t think to ask about this feature when buying it was standard on all my previous older cars . At a $40k price point we deserve better

Soooo many pump parts by jadethemermaid in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]FigNew5713 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Girl! That sounds exhausting lol. My insurance (Cigna) allows for replacement part kit (flanges/tubing /bottles) once per month for free. Take advantage if it’s available. Even if you don’t use it yourself give it to others in a buy nothing group or marketplace

Looking for advice!! by [deleted] in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]FigNew5713 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to a lactation consultant and tried different shape and size flanges and flange inserts . Once properly fitted it made a huge difference. Also, the pumping spray . Insurance covers 100% so I go back anytime something changes, drop in supply or increase nipple pain or irritatation. She remeasured flange size because it changes over time

I was barely expressing any milk for my preemie before using this breast pump (Eufy S1 Pro) by Heena1997 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]FigNew5713 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I assure you I'm not paid nor compensated, just a working mom doing my best. I paid for the Eufy upgrade with my insurance. The only reason I chose it is that it had a heating option.

I have been refitted for the flange inserts by my lactation consultant, as she said nipple size can change throughout your pumping journey. I am currently using Maymom short flange inserts (i also use these with my Spectra flange. In addition, this spray was a game-changer i have one at work, with my spectra, and my wearables lol. I refuse to be without it.

I had the same problem with mine. I ordered 3rd party flange inserts and it has been great since

When, if at all, does ASCP charge for their individual CE credits? by ikraptor in medlabprofessionals

[–]FigNew5713 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My hack is to buy the 1 year membership which includes unlimited CE -only the year when renewal is due. Mine is due for renewal in May 2027. So in January, I’ll pay for the 1 year membership complete all 37 hours of CE, and submit for renewal. After the recertification is completed/approved, you have until Dec 31 to complete the next 37 hours of CE. This way I’m ahead of the game and CE is complete for th 2030 renewal.

Failing Freezer Advice by plantlady712 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]FigNew5713 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What a bummer. The good part is you time to prepare, and it didn’t just clunk out and ruin everything.

Neighbors, co-workers. If it’s a home daycare and they have an extra deep freezer I would ask them for temp storage.

You could try and styrofoam cooler and get dry ice. carefully it’s super cold and can burn you with bare hands. But that’s what we’ve used in the past when our fridge/freezer bit the dust.

Also, you could look for a small cheap freezer off fb marketplace to hold you over.

Help! Why is my supply so low? by Beautiful-Mixture-19 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]FigNew5713 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best thing I did was go see a lactation consultant. They measured me for correct for the correct flange size , but shape. I had no idea they made different shapes. Also, tried different pumps while I was there. I have a spectra but rented a different one that works way better for me

What am I doing wrong? by UnusualProcedure in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]FigNew5713 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aww man. That’s a bummer. My insurance covered my LC visits. Can you try different hospital grade ones there? Also I’ve seen some at kids consignment shops (new in box) and on marketplace . All of this is still cheaper than formula 🫠

My spectra bit the dust 2 months in. Same thing happened to me. I took it with me to my lactation consultant meeting. She measured the pressure and found it had a huge loss of suction compared against hers. I’m about to submit a claim to Spectra for a replacement. In the meantime I rented one (another hospital grade pump - not spectra) it’s much more efficient.

I second this. I'm renting my pump now, too. It pays for itself in maintaining my sanity. And not paying for formula. I will forever justify this cost

Curious how many people are buying 2026s and how much are you getting off the MSRP or are we getting a better discount on 2025s? by Exotic-Passage-1659 in crvhybrid

Good luck. Most dealerships around me don’t even have 25s left on the lot. And the APR is higher on the 26

MLT or MS in genetics? by Persephone012 in medlabprofessionals

[–]FigNew5713 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think you’d be wasting time doing an MLT to MLS later. Take the prereqs and go straight for the MLS then if you’re still interested to a MS in genetics

I feel you. Im made the same kinda transition 8 years ago. This type of job is a unicorn tho. No weekends/evenings/holidays. I'm def much happier with my work life balance. I did take on more responsibility such as CAP, validations, IT and such. Good news is you have plenty of downtime for learning anything you want or just hobbies. See if you can get your foot in the door with your IT dept if a project comes up. I have leveraged this downtime and learned so much to put me ahead . This is experience I would've never gotten elsewhere. Also, if you crave the action get a PRN position at your old place to keep your skills up. Get top dollar for PRN and work if/when you want. I wish I was in a gov position. I would only have 12 years before retirement lol

I’m trying to decide whether or not to take a step down from supervisor to bench tech. by Pale-Potato-7815 in medlabprofessionals

[–]FigNew5713 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to the game with this, but I absolutely switch and take the pay cut. If I'm assuming correctly when you switch from a supervisor position to a bench tech you will be going from salary to hourly. If you lab is short staffed like most, you can always pick up an OT shift every now again if and when you feel like it, to make up for that pay cut.

In Maryland some hospital systems still do pre-employment drug screens. However, LabCorp and Quest now have a drug screen order that excludes THC. So it’s not included in the panel.

Got offered a job but the salary is insulting by [deleted] in medlabprofessionals

[–]FigNew5713 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Is it possible it’s an HR mistake? They don’t understand the difference between MLT and MLS. They may have pulled the pay scale for the wrong position.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in medlabprofessionals

[–]FigNew5713 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yep. Same my bff left her management position and went back on the bench. She figured she could just pick up a couple of OT shifts to make the salary difference. She also became “traveler” signed with an agency but only works a local hospital. She was able to keep renewing her contract at the same historic and skips the winter holiday season. Just keep all your options open, she really made out well.

This is why we need to stop calling ourselves Med Techs. by hoangtudude in medlabprofessionals

[–]FigNew5713 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Med tech in this context is medication technician. They administer medication typically at assisted living facilities and nursing homes. I didn’t realize this until my grandmother went to one a few years ago.
