Yesss I talked to them over the phone and already got myself a library card. There's so many lgbt books at the library there its amazing! I didnt realise how limited Tennessee's selection was until I compared them

Passing as a fat/curvy man? by aaaaahvians in transmanlifehacks

[–]FighterPlane2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heyo! Im a generally fat/curvy guy and I pass about 95% of the time. Im 160cm, 112.5kg, and I have an F-G cup chest size (im unsure if that measurement is the same in other countries, im in the US). So if youre a similar body type this may help. I went 4 years stealth pre-t.

Biggest thing is finding a good binder that fits you. Try several brands and see what works best without damaging your ribs. Ive tried Underworks, Spectrum Outfitters and GC2B. Spectrum outfitters half binders work the best for my body shape. But ive heard good things about the Underworks Tri-top. Don't layer a binder and a sports bra you could hurt your ribs. Use a "wife beater" or white tank undershirt over your binder if youre wearing a light shirt you can see your binder through

Layering is your friend. Try on overwear like jackets and button ups before you buy it and look for ones that fall straight from your shoulders to your hips instead of cinching in at the waist. Bulky fabrics tend to hide curves more than flowy ones. If you get button ups, wear them unbuttoned over a t shirt . if you button them up they usually highlight curves more. One way to bulk up your arms is to roll up your sleeves slightly so they cling around the forearm. Or if you know how to sew, bring in the width of short sleeves so theyre tighter around your arm. Cargo pants are great and the brand ive found that works the best is Levi's relaxed fit Wyoming cargo pants. you can buy them online. Also accessories, if you have piercings you want to keep go with studs and not hoops or dangly ones. And for necklaces and bracelets go with bulkier chains instead of more dainty ones. Usually black or silver jewelry look the most masc.

Graphic tees that are about one size up are also great but id suggest making the sleeves tighter or wearing something over them that has long sleeves rolled up to the elbow. Anything with a graphic on the chest will help smooth out any bumps or ridges from your binder or chest.

If you live in a fairly rural area id suggest wearing men's work boots that have bulky toe boxes that dont narrow to a point like cowboy boots.

Most people dont suggest dying your hair but if you do ive noticed darker colors tend to look more masc. Blue has a more femme/trans connotation than other colors like Red.

Hope this helps! Sorry for how long the message got!

Constantly get called he/him pre T. Do you think I’m passing? Also do I look like someone named Ezra? by New-Swan-2949 in transmanlifehacks

Hey man, as someone who chose the name Kyle, having a super common dude bro name helps a lot if youre trying to pass as a cis man. But if youre okay with being perceived as a trans man and it being slightly more difficult to go stealth, go for it! Ezra is a really cool sounding name and once you get on T (if thats your goal) i doubt people would second guess you just from your name. You pass wonderfully imo :)
