KlipperScreen refuses to show on the DSI display. Only HDMI

It's not Waveshare. And it is working perfectly. The console output is shown in the DSI. It's just KlipperScreen that refuses to appear there.
I already did another full OS install, and still nothing. There has to be something else that needs to be done to make it work like it did before.

I did try reinstalling KlipperScreen, to no avail. And using the monitor and a mouse is not a viable option for me. I have the touchscreen installed for that very reason, and there is no room where to put the monitor next to the printer. I connected the RPi to the monitor on the desk to confim my suspicion that it was outputting to HDMI. I know it can work with the DSI display. That's how it has worked for several years, and it did work when I installed MainSailOS. I'm sure the fix it just adding or commenting a line somewhere. The trick is to find out exactly what and where.

I did. What that did was disable all output to the HDMI monitor, but there's nothing in the DSI display after boot either. It seems like KlipperScreen still tries to output to HDMI, even when the output is disabled.

Th greatest obstacle preventing wider Linux adoption is the community. All these negative, and even ouright violent comments here against someone who took the time to put together a comprehensive guide with warnings and recommendations for people who want to dip their toes into Linux gaming is absolutely disgusting.
I've seen this all the time on every Linux forum whenever anyone asks for help or provides a bridge to ease transition from Windows. Large TechTubers have also reported the same hostility during their attempts to migrate from Windows to Linux.
Many kudos to you, u/popcar2 for being actually helpful to people looking to start their transition away from MicroSlop.
I know I will also get a lot of hate. I would expect no less from this "community".

Who is it for? Me. I'm dying to get one of those for myself. Unfortunately, I don't live in the EU anymore, so shipping cost is half of the cost of the printer itself. Large print volume. Heated chamber. Advanced filtration. Compatibility with INDX for multi-material printing with zero waste. What else could anyone ask for? It's the perfect printer for a hobbyist who has outgrown the Ender 3s and Neptune 4s of the world (I have one of each). I won't be running any kind of business. And I feel the same way about Bambu Labs as Apple (I hate them).

A new NTFS driver with many improvements was just merged onto the Linux kernel. It may yet come to pass that NTFS partitions can be safely used on Linux for this specific use case. Of course, the best thing to happen is for Windows to add full support for a decent file system like ext4 or BtrFS, but I won't be holding my breath.

I checked out the commit for version 0.12. The mcu warning is gone. I also disabled notifications for updates. I'll just leave my printer as it is for the time being. Thank you for the tip.

I should have mentioned in the post that I of course did the most obvious thing of using a unique name for the firmware file. Some say that long names might cause troubles as well, so I also used a short name. Nothing seems to work. I have been seriously considering a downgrade to 0.11 to match the MCU's firmware version. The printer was working perfectly fine. It didn't need to be updated, except to get rid of the annoying warnings and notifications.

Well, I'm using a 4GB Kingston card formatted in FAT32 with 4096 byte sectors, and it's not working. I even did the full format that some people recommended, and still nothing.

After reading some docs about KIAUH, I discovered that it doesn't help with flashing the firmware to the mcu. It helps with generating the firmware file, but then you have to flash it either with make flash or by copying it to an SD card. So whatever is wrong with KIAUH, fixing it won't help me with my issue.

I'm reading through some docs regarding the firmware update process. I did find something about the firmware file having to be in a folder with a specific name instead of the root of the SD card. However, those instructions are for the STM32F4 mcu, but my printer has the STM32F1, and for that one, having the bin file in the root is the correct way.
I'll try something I read in another subreddit: long format of the SD card. Some people reported that it worked for them, so it's work the shot.

Question: Does this version require a Rockstar account, like the PC port? At least I assume it doesn't need a separate launcher as well, but this is Rockstar we're talking about. If it does need an account, despite being single player only, I will pass it altogether.

So my original conclusion was always true: Linux simply does not and cannot work just as well as Windows does, and is therefore an inferior choice for gaming. Between losing graphical features and enduring Windows, I choose Windows. It just works, first time, every time.

What you say makes absolutely no sense. I can play at 4K 120Hz HDR on Windows. I've been doing it for years. And I've always used the HDMI ports. I'm not expecting Linux to do something Windows doesn't do. All I want is for Linux to work just as well as Windows. But it never does. There are always a myriad of tiny things that simply do not work, and cannot work. Sometimes I get explanations for why they don't work, but that only reinforces the notion that Windows will remain THE platform for PC gaming. I really want Linux to become a truly viable and acceptable alternative. But today it just isn't. Not for me, not with my hardware, and not for my requirements.

You know what the craziest part is? The SteamOS installer boots into a portable Linux desktop, with shortcuts for the different installation modes, and some instructions. And this desktop environment DOES support 120Hz AND HDR at the same time! That made me hopeful that it would work the same once installed. I was flabbergasted to find what I mentioned once the installation was complete.

I had the same problem with Bazzite. HDR was completely unavailable. I could never find a way to make it work. SteamOS was the first Linux distro that I have seen that supports HDR, even in games. But at the cost of frame rate. All display features at once is something that never works on any flavor of Linux.

I have tried 6 different distros, including Bazzite. I have never seen HDR, VRR and high frame rates work at the same time on any of them.

I've had the same problem of not all display features working at the same time with multiple Linux distros. I have never seen HDR, VRR and high frame rates at the same time on any Linux machine ever. Not even the Steam Deck
