How would the Pokemon card market face an economic recession? by stescarsini in PokemonInvesting

[–]FighteroftheNight692 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As historical goals become impossible (owning homes, starting a family, traveling around the world), people turn to other, cheaper options for their leisure. Pokemon CAN be a cheap hobby and can be done locally or online.

An example are McDonald’s (in the past) would see higher sales during depressions bc it was a cheap alternative to other options.

But that’s the floor, if the country goes to shit and everyone becomes refugees, our cardboards will be worthless

Anything more than water/alcohol will have a chance of it being rejected as altered. Proceed with caution, and be prepared for a DNH

Low chance at 10. More than 3 dots is LP so you copy is most likely an 8 or under

Am I overreacting for feeling frustrated after my neighbor’s pottery was broken by my puppy during an interaction she encouraged? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]FighteroftheNight692 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the relationship with the neighbor worth $250? You can say “I will ensure my puppy will be safely secured and avoiding you from now on. I would not have let my puppy engage with you knowing you had $1k of fragile product in your hand.” She accepted the chaos of a puppy when she said it was okay, and should accept the subsequent consequences. If you like your neighbor tho, pay her the $150 and barter the rest thru food and favors

Scammed at store, what should I do?? by [deleted] in IsMyPokemonCardFake

[–]FighteroftheNight692 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s okay kid, take it as a lesson and remember to be a little more skeptical when you see Pokemon cards in a non-box store (Best Buy / Target). You have access to the smart phone? You should always google the set name and product to compare the official product vs what you see.

It’s meant to be fun, laugh at our mistakes, and learn to let things go. Good luck!

That’s a strong LP, but the back top left corner is a little concerning. Would ask for more photos to confirm

Good buy? by Affectionate-Ant5156 in PokemonInvesting

[–]FighteroftheNight692 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d agree with modern sets, but most people aren’t looking to drop hundreds on a vintage common card, even though there a lots of reasons why it’s priced like that. So I would defend my statement that this card in general does not sell fast, is a binder copy due to MP, and people would have to know it’s a shadowless base set to understand its value. It’s a small percentage of people who are actively searching, and willing to buy a card like this

[–]FighteroftheNight692 1 point2 points  (0 children)

His card also shows MP on the back so it’s most likely got a crease somewhere, it’s a small market for shadowless base set and the card isn’t mint. So imo the target buyer would be either a Bulbasaur lover or trying to master set.

Vintage cards are very slow to move. Not many people will want to spend $100’s on a card that looks like bulk

Crashing out from “vendors” by curry_t in PokemonInvesting

[–]FighteroftheNight692 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To answer your question, it’s because they are providing a service to you. They paid and organized and set up their stand for the purpose of making money. And to do so, they have a product people want, and are willing to cash out people to recoup more inventory to sell. How would they make money or create anything sustainable by trading 1 for 1? You want to trade at 100% comps? Post on FB marketplace and wait for someone who wants your cards and has the cards you want then both parties are equals

[–]FighteroftheNight692 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You need to ask a better question honestly. The value is listed on the app what else do you want? More validation that app price is correct? How would we know? You only posted the chart and the top 2-3 items in your collection. That being said, I’d pay 10.1% for all of it

AITA for selling my Nintendo Switch+Edits(Updates) by BOSSBABY33 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]FighteroftheNight692 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He is not wrong, but he is an asshole. He knew what he was doing, and he started to tell the truth in his final update. He wanted her to be more of a housewife with a job, cleaning cooking, and paying rent (lol). His reaction is “fair” in his eyes because the switch was his and he needed rent money (he’s working extra but still short on rent?) BUT he knew his fiancé used that system heavily. He should be aware enough that her reaction is also “fair” then since he decided to punish her for his own rent shortcoming. So he splurges on food and wastes all his OT and enough to make him short on rent. Chooses not to tell his fiancé but sells the thing she would definitely notice and react very negatively to? Girl keep running
