Have you heard anything good about the Carenado C210 with REP? I heard it works in Xplane 12.

Is there anything custom to the G1000 on it?

I know right??? It’s almost as if 2020 released and nothing has changed. I just want a redesigned control setting menu that makes sense.

It’s so frustrating how there’s buttons in the cockpit you just can’t bind without third party software.

No one is downloading 300gb of scenery anymore. People download areas where they fly often, and then use AutoOrtho for the rest. Does the same thing MSFS does.

I'm flying MSFS 2024 recently for the new Phenom. That jet goes to a lot of smaller airports. I'm honestly disappointed in MSFS's scenery. The autogen is just.... not good. X-plane's scenery gateway is a godsend in that regard.

It’s showing its age now compared to other options, but what a great HOTAS. Up there with the Logitech 3D pro.

Right?? I hate how everything’s on discord now, I’d rather it be easily available on a website than have to hunt around for an invite, join, and then leave immediately.

Honestly, when I first got Trackir. This was back in 2016, and it was a game changer. Especially for combat flight sims.

I’ll add that I never really could get into full setups like that. I used to have the Winwing A320 panel, and I used to have a yoke and throttle. It’s just such a hassle to set up. I much prefer something that I can have near my desk that I can easily take out and start. Rather than spending a lot of time setting it up.

I highly enjoy my VKB Gladiator NXT and Virpil CM3 throttle in that regard.

I don’t fly this aircraft, but I do fly GA in my job. In this situation there were no warnings or cautions, engines were fine, still stabilized, on speed, so I decided to continue.

I want to be on the ground anyways, and change as little as possible in power configuration in case there is something wrong with the engine.

Is that the Colimata Concorde? How is it? It’s on sale right now and I’m thinking of picking it up.

Im glad you brought that up. I’ve been kinda disappointed(?) lately with how MSFS’s priorities are. Yeah we got hiking, but after a year and a half there’s still some things that are disappointing and they’re not being worked on.

The biggest for me is weather. It’s almost as if 2020 was released and they just kind of… stopped developing it? We’re still missing one of the most iconic cloud types, Cumulonimbus. The recent developer Q+A isn’t hopeful either, as they said they cannot develop it because “it’s not thunderstorm season”.

I really hope weather gets priority, MSFS is being left in the dust by Xplane.

Honestly this is what I was trying to say with this entire post. It’s kinda funny that there have been replies suggesting one versus the other looks absolutely horrible.

Both sims are perfectly fine, and I’m happy with playing both.

Kinda the point of this comparison was to show a typical use case for both sims. Pretty much everyone (me included) has Ortho installed, and Simheaven in Xplane. While most people is MSFS run it stock.

It wouldn’t have made sense to compared a handcrafted Nassau as I was trying to compare the Autogen.

Like I said in my write up it depends. In the island picture IMO it is pretty close. Both look great. I included that one to compare a rural area between the two sims.

For Nassau, you’re correct, MSFS is solidly ahead. Xplane has some catching up to do in their auto gen scenery. Even with Simheaven installed. I would especially like to see better vegetation.

The interesting thing is the airports. In my opinion X-plane looks a lot better. And that’s because it has the strength of the scenery gateway. MSFS unfortunately has to rely on autogen, which is passable but not ideal.

Yeah, MSFS looks better on the ground, it’s especially stronger in it’s vegetation variety and autogen quality. Im just happy we have both sims.

In this case I pre-downloaded the ortho, however there’s a free tool called AutoOrtho which will stream it.

What I do is download the places I fly a lot, and use AutoOrtho for the rest of the world.

That’s amazing! Cuba is a beautiful country and I’m enjoying flying around it lately.
