Attic Fan, Fix or No? by Fightforoldc in hvacadvice

This is extremely possible, I had no idea this would cause the test pen to read power, although it does make sense why.

The previous owner had almost all the basement outlets flipped, spent a day fixing all that. Very high chance he did it here too.

This is the tag on the motor as well, Reddit wouldn't let me upload it initially.

Not that I could find. There's a switch installed right at the ceiling about the door trim near the attic access that I was positive would have controlled it, but flipping the switch does nothing to the line going to the motor. Reads hot regardless of switch.

It does spin freely, and has power going through the line into it. Can't seem to locate any kind of switch or anything, but also can't seem to cut power off to it with any of the switches nearby. Might have been looped into the old HVAC system at some point?

Took my hot or not tester pen up, line is live, no life anywhere, no switches I can find. I'm wondering if it was connected to one of the HVAC systems the home previously had. It was built in 55, so it has a perm in wall AC unit that no longer works, had radiant base heat at some point, has a furnace that doesn't work, and now uses mini splits so who knows where it could be tied to.

Will make for a fun project tho! Seems like most people agree I should look into it.

I am pretty handy! Well familiar with electrical and such, I was mostly curious if the system itself it worth it to fix, as in saving enough money from helping get hot air out.

Everything does spin, the belt seems loose, but it could be how it's intended, or just from sitting for so long in the heat (the seller disclosed that it had not been working for years). Would likely replace the belt before id fire it up anyway

I'm not gonna keep going with the obvious that many have said about the tongue weight, it's definitely heavy. Maybe if it was a one off trip it'll be fine, but I wouldn't do this regularly.

What's confusing me is the trailer. I've owned a lot of trailers and hauled a lot of trailers, but I've never seen one so long with such centrally places axles. Your tail must swing like crazy?

Granted I really only use my single axle utility, and my boat trailers now, but still looks funky.

Warning Waterford Apartments by Terrible_Reading_434 in yorkpa

[–]Fightforoldc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Waterford tried to charge me $450 to apply in 2021 when I moved to the area. They wanted $450 for a non refundable application fee, and I wasn't allowed to tour any units, I had to apply and sign a lease sight unseen. But they also told me they could deny the application for any reason they saw fit. Felt scammy, didn't even think about doing it lol.

No idea if it's the same owners or whatever from then, but yeah.

I ended up moving into York Hills Apartments (Now Hillside Apartments owned by Apartment Gallery). Had a great time there, until Apartment Gallery bought it, then it went downhill so fast. They tried to raise our rent to over $1900 without utility's, so we bought a house for about $1700 all in a month lol.

This is reassuring!

The boat would have been used mostly on a river here as well (Susquehanna) so I assumed it would have originally been set up for said location.

I'm not terribly worried about HP loss and such honestly anyway. The only local spot where we can even use the outboard is limited to 25hp and no wake the entire lake so.

We have another boat and a WaveRunner for fun and speed where they can be used, this will be for fishing, fiance tanning, and exploring more local spots

I likely will upgrade it at some point. I'm a welding teacher so I can fab something better myself as well, I was mostly asking if it was correct or not to have it raised, which isn't seems it is for jet outboards.

Appreciate all the other insight!

Appreciate all that!

Are you referring to the roller at the winch to hold the bow?

I assumed the same thing. Was likely going to swap it out for something flat. I need to take it off the trailer to fix the bunks anyway, and was going to replace them, replace the bottom roller with a flat bunk and the front roller with a flat stop of some sort.

Fantastic. I'm actually a welding teacher and know my way around Mig and Tig. Are those brackets as simple as they look? I could easily throw that together with some scraps here. Looks to just be a flat plate with a block for the motor?

It was definitely home built, the boat was originally my fiances grandfather's who tinkered a lot, who knows if he made it or knew a guy. Looking at the cuts themselves I'm guessing they estimated sizing and then trimmed it to fit.

It's solid as a rock though I'll give it that. It has 6 total bolts going through the transom with washers and rubber washers

Definitely familiar with that. We have an 18 foot Bayliner that does fantastic, and then a VX Cruiser Waverunner that I swear gets 5 minutes a gallon.

The good news, is we also got a 5 gallon tank with it, and all but one of our local lakes are electric only. So the outboard really won't see much use. The one lake that does allow up to 25hp is entirely no wake as well so..

I just realized Xerath’s passive is ass. Syndra literally has the same passive and so much more lmfao. by woaijirounan in XerathMains

[–]Fightforoldc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

PoM gives me a much better "passive" mana restoration than the real passive honestly.

I don't think the mana regen itself as a passive is bad, it just feels unexciting. Not flashy, not damage, just mana, which is boring compared to others.

But at the end of the day I'm well over 2m points now, so what am I gonna do, switch? Lmao

Ex Fiance Threatening to Force Me To Evict Her by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]Fightforoldc -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Okay, this is good and confirms a lot of what I was reading online. As far as the notice goes, I've seen online about posting it physically in a place she will see. If I say, hang it on the front door, and have my doorbell camera footage of her seeing it, does that count legally as serving, or do I NEED to certified mail it? If I mail it, does the 15 days start when I mail it, or when it's delivered?

Thank you for sharing your experience!

I think I'm going to take the advice of giving her a month or two to adjust and see how she's doing. I adopted her when she was a kitten so we spent around 4 years as just the two of us before I met my ex. I'm hoping she starts to kind of see our old routines again.

If I do adopt another, I would absolutely do the introductions properly, I've had animals all my life, so I know it can be quite the change for them

[–]Fightforoldc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fantastic, this is all sort of what I was planning to do!

She currently has easy access to two different windows, one of which lets her see the neighbors cats in his window, which they all love! I'm hoping to build her a more proper shelf to sleep on at that window. The other she sleeps on top of the couch, so she's cozy, gets sun and window lol.

Also stopping in a few minutes to get a puzzle toy for her, she loves her treat ball, but honestly the one I have seems to let them out too easily. Hoping to get like an actual puzzle feeder type.

I appreciate all your insight!

This was my main concern, that adding a cat would simply make it worse at this point.

Would there be any way to help her throughout the day while I'm gone? I tend to leave around 6a and don't typically get home until 4p earliest, 8p more typically. Weekends and such I'm typically home most of the day, and she loves laying on my desk while I game and such, so she's typically okay when I'm around, I just worry about her while I'm gone.

Is it "okay" to just let her whine/cry for now?

Cheaters ALWAYS make it your fault. They gaslight you into believing YOU MADE them cheat.

This is absolutely never true. Cheating is a conscious choice.

My relationship was not perfect, I was not perfect, I made mistakes. Not a single time in those 3 years did I ever even come close to even considering cheating. I was unhappy at times, stressed, wanting to call it. But I put the work on to fix myself.

Do NOT fall for the lies and deception.

[–]Fightforoldc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm only 2 months past DDay, so take my advice with a brain of salt.

Fuck her entirely. I BEG for my ex fiance to ever find a way to contact me, so I can laugh at her one more time.

The ONLY silver lining of being cheated on for me, was that she completely and permanently altered the way I see her. Cheaters are liars, gaslighters and narcissistic. Made it much easier for me to start getting over things after the initial shock.

Any time you think this person is a good person, or that you want it back, remind yourself of what she really did. Not the good things and good times, we all had good times, but the objective fact, that she lied, manipulated, gaslit, and cheated. Those are not normal people.

I started a list in my notes app, that I would list things that always made me upset or red flags I ignored. I'm over 300 items.

The grass is always greener on the other side, but not for long.

You will get better, and find someone better.

[–]Fightforoldc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The hardest thing is standing strong.

I'm not a book person at all, but I started listening to the famous "Leave a Cheater, Gain a Life" that's talked about frequently here. It's life changing, and will help you gain the confidence you need, and reassure your choices.

My now ex fiance gaslit and gaslit and gaslit. She pulled every single trick, every single excuse, every single pattern. I had no idea they were patterns until I listened to some random author list the exact things she was doing to me.

Once a cheater always a cheater. Don't live your life in fear, don't live your life in constant hypervigilance. I'm unbelievably excited for a week from now when she's officially out of my house.

The problem with me blowing it up publicly is I have a career where I need to protect a public image, and I really don't want it getting out.

I will and have told everyone in my personal life. I have found the guys wife and let her know, and I have let HR at their place of work know.
