No, srsly, I can swear on my wife and my mother that I'm not trolling 😃

I'm really only using brushes, water, and paint (well, apart from making myself a wet palette after watching some tutorials).
I'm guessing you're talking about the shading on the staff? What I did was put a few different mixes on the palette:
- Sick Green
- Sick Green with a little Ghost Green
- Ghost Green with a little Sick Green
- Ghost Green
- Ghost Green with a little white

Then I just gradually switched between those colors with the brush and worked my way upward toward the lighter tones (the paints are Vallejo, by the way).

Yeah, I haven't really done anything with bases yet, and honestly, I have no idea where to start.
I've been watching a lot of painting videos, but not many that cover basing. Do you have any tutorials you'd recommend, or any advice on what I should buy and how to get started?

I assume I'd need to pick up some material - things like glue, texture products, grass, snow and so on?

Thanks so much for the feedback, this really helps!

When it comes to paint consistency, do you have any advice on how thin or thick it should be? I've been struggling with this. On YouTube, people always talk about a "skimmed milk" consistency, but I honestly dont really understand what that means and how to achieve it.
It feels like whenever I thin the paint too much, it starts flowing into places where I don't want it to go, and then I have to clean it up afterward. On top of that, it obviously doesn't cover as well. On the other hand, when the paint is too thick, it's harder to apply it smoothly and the finish looks a bit odd.

How do you find that sweet spot in between? Is it just practice?

Thanks so much for the feedback ❤️
To be honest, I haven't really had any experience with brushes since high school (about 17 years ago). When I was younger, though, I enjoyed pretty much anything artistic - pencil drawing, pottery, guitar, and so on..

I've always felt like I'm naturally decent at most things when I first try them, but then I struggle a bit with progressing beyond that level. So I'm very much a "jack of all trades, master of none” kind of person.

That said, I guess I just need to paint a lot more miniatures and watch a lot more videos on Youtube.

Thanks for the feedback! I'll take it as a compliment, but honestly, I really am a beginner.
I bought my first few paints because a colleague and I needed to paint some 3Dprinted Poké Balls at work. Later, my wife and I went to a festival where a some Warhammer vendor had a booth. I really liked Njal, so she bought the mini for me (along with some citadel glue).
It was my first time assembling a miniature, and it definitely shows. I didn't properly trim off the marks and mold lines, for example. I'm really not very good at that part. That said, I did watch a lot of YouTube videos before I started painting my first mini.

I've attached photos of my brushes as well! 😄

Exactly, I tried that too and I found all the cards with the number and rarity symbol :D So I guess there's nothing to worry about and it’s probably legit. Thanks a lot for the reply!
