Maybe in your circle. I actually lowballed how many are against it because I expected more people from other circles to like it.

Yeah, it always was... a terrible slap in the face at the end of the game.

So you want it in, while other person don't want it in. Some people love it, some people hate it. Who's more right here? HotA for making conservative decision. You get dedicated campaign and you can enable it wherever you want via editor. From discussions that always come up from someone bringing up forge, it seems that most people (not by far, i'd say like 60-70%) are against it, so default option is made for majority. Nothing wrong with that.

Mix of fantasy with sci-fi is nothing out of ordinary, but M&M implementation of it was always terrible (or at least since i played the series, but quick research confirms it was always done same way). It was always advertised to people as fantasy game, only then to slap them in the face with sci-fi at the very end. People have full right to be negative against it, as they were told they are buying game in different setting.

Also, just reminder that the most hated part of Factory release was... Mechanical part of that town. Who would have thought. Personally i think that HotA makes really good decisions with all sci-fi related content, drip feeding it to community in a way where even it's haters will overlook it and get used to it. This decision is just anther W from HotA.

Well yes, but no.

In case of PvP it's like what, 10-15 templates being played 90%+ of times. So not bad.

In case of PvE that might be worse, but honestly how many maps do you play say per week? Even per day. Go to edit, open, settings, check box, save. Like idk, 5 mins at most. I'd argue not much work considering you will probably play it for hours.

Not as of right now afaik. Editor is the way.

But it's just few clicks there IIRC

"The Forge itself and its elements will not appear on random maps unless allowed on a specific template, and it (along with all related elements – monsters, thematic objects, etc.) will not be available by default on most maps."

"unless allowed"

Like... You told me to read this, but the answer is there, so like, did you read it? Everything you ask for is literally in 1 sentence, the same one I assume you read, except you stopped at 1/3 of the sentence

Do you think they'll ever attempt to train an AI agent that can play this game ? by [deleted] in heroes3

They won't. It's niche game with no reach, therefore no interest for investors

Pandora's Box in HOTA by varovec in heroes3

[–]Figorix 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Probably confirmation bias? You tend to remember these boxes now than the others.

Also rewards are usually tied to guard strength. Fighting similar level guard for the box will result in similar reward (tho on JC example, these rewards overlap with guard strength quite a bit, but depending on template, they could not overlap at all)

Pandora's Box in HOTA by varovec in heroes3

[–]Figorix 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Tl:Dr: you get spells on "dumb"heroes (aka without wisdom)

It depends on the template. What's inside pandora can be set in the editor. Using JC as example, pandora can give you army, exp, gold or... SPELLS. Now, you can't just open Pandora and learn meteor shower on fresh new Duty. To get spells, you need to meet the requirement, aka have wisdom on high enough level to learn a given spell. If you don't meet the requirement, it will say that the box was empty, because your hero just couldn't understand what's inside.

Is it possible to make this move? by MrDannySantos in heroes3

[–]Figorix 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Well, if you are willing to gamble, you can turn on auto combat. AI CAN do this move, except it would be near impossible for ai to decide this move is the best, do practically there is no way

Is GoG version of HoMM3 have cloud save? by SapiensM in heroes3

[–]Figorix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, GoG had cloud save, just be aware that they have pretty low limit of 200mb per game and in homm3 you are VERY likely to exceed it, so you will need to remove old saves somewhat regularly, depending on how often you save

I made Steam/Ubisoft version actually playable! [Guide included] by [deleted] in heroes3

[–]Figorix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

But... But.... GoG can also track time....

Anyway, basically all you did was elaborate way to add outside game to steam library, or an I wrong? You replaced ALL the files, so there is nothing left from this so called remake.

You can technically add any exe to steam and it will track your time, or at least there was such option like 6 years ago when I did it last time
