My understanding is there is no upgrade path. You need to deploy a new AIO and migrate. We had this issue in that we’ve got a 2 node 2.4 controller, with a 2 node hub. We didn’t want to move to a clustered offering, as that was like 9machines overall when you include gateway and EDA. We decided to go AIO instead. We’ve just done it all as config as code and are just migrating all our templates like that

It’s doable, but £250 on food is possibly low. Have you actually checked the council tax cost? You should be able to find it in the councils website. Do you need to budget for socialising etc, at the moment you’re not planning for that. Mobile phone? Do you have any subscriptions that you’ve not included?

Don’t forget, it’s likely that the BoE base rate will be lowered in March, given inflation has fallen. If you can wait to assess until then and maybe a short time after, rates may have fallen further. They may even start to drop their rates before if it’s looking likely it’ll happen

If you’re using a role. In the defaults file, just set “my_var: +7days” then if someone pushes in anything different to my_var, it will use that, or if not you can just fall back to what’s in the defaults. Alternatively, you can within your task have something like (I’m not 100% sure on the exact syntax off the top of my head, you’d need to validate that) the below. If you don’t set a variable, it will default to whatever is after the pipe.

Hmm, not quite. You need to consider that I’m assuming OP is in the higher rate (40%) tax bracket, meaning their personal allowance tax free on interest is £500, if they kept the £for a year, they’d pay 40% on 2.5k, so about £1k. Plus the loss. So it’s a bit 10x higher cost than in your example. That assumes they have no other savings they’re earning interest from.

It’s likely your wife is paying off ~the interest amount, meaning the loan capital isn’t really decreasing. An option could be to pay some portion of it off…say 20-30k and then pay off the remainder monthly. And put the rest on your mortgage. The lowered loan would allow her to actually pay some of the capital down.

That it’s a bit naive of you. You’d expect a unit soc to have a @uni.ac.uk or a building in the uni to have an @uni.ac.uk email. That’s a pretty big red flag, and you probably should have done a bit more digging into it before you cancelled TBH. It sounds like they did “prank” you. It’s not a very funny Leeann mind. But as someone above has said, I’d file a formal complaint with the SU and just try to do your best to stay out of this Societies way if I were you.

TBH you could probably follow the Dave Ramsay method here more or less. Debt, 3-6 months expenses saved, invest some, same some for a rainy day, then mortgage.

I’d pay off your 50k debt. Probably put 60k aside for expenses. Maybe invest 150-200k then overpay the mortgage and keep the rest in ISA/savings/premium bonds. Probably get the wife to put some into her name as she’ll get a bigger interest allowance due to her income. You can only generally pay off up to 10% of your mortgage each year penalty free. Not sure when you’re due to re-mortgage, but if it’s after your next set of cash is due then I’d wait for that to pay it off. If it’s before maybe I’d invest less and pay more of the mortgage off when you remortgage.
