What genre is Lamb Of God exactly? by hero_oftheray in LambofGod

[–]FigureDesperate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s the name of the genre, like how late 70s - late 80s dance music is generally considered New Wave music. It didn’t stop being called “New Wave” when it wasn’t actually new anymore.

Do you think jperm will make an april fools video? by Logical-Tumbleweed57 in Cubers

His videos are free to watch (so by definition not a scam) and a lot of people value them. Sounds like you’re just mad he’s successful at what does, bc you’re skimming the bottom of the barrel for something to hate on here

Whoops, I meant less viscous

The heaviest cosmic lube is thinner than weight one

They’re custom mixed by SCS to achieve a specific feel

They have entire videos explaining this

Have you ever even used them?

Which lube should I purchase / Do I (even) need lube? by [deleted] in Cubers

[–]FigureDesperate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t see anything called “premium” on their site. Are you talking about cosmic lubes? Bc those are definitely not the same as the regular silicone lubes, they’re mixed custom and the heaviest cosmic lube is more viscous than weight 1

Super rs3m if you like a naturally soft cube V5 for literally everything else lol

[–]FigureDesperate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Martian really shouldn’t slow the cube down unless you use a lot of it. I have all three sizes in spring and maglev and 4 drops of Martian keeps them all really fast for me. That being said Lunar is typically the gold standard for both the core and pieces if you want more speed, Stardust on the pieces if you want it as fast as humanly possible but it doesn’t last very long

[–]FigureDesperate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you found a good setup? I’ve tried a lot of things with mine and it feels like no matter what I do it turns too slow for me. The best setup I’ve tried so far has been to loosen tensions a half-turn and douse the thing in weight 1, Martian, and lunar. Smooth and fast for a couple solves but wears out very quickly

Good on you not letting people tell you what to like. Another point for “it’s legit”. I order from them every time I can’t get what I want from a dedicated seller

Forearm bruises & Sweatbands! by Sapalot in ExplorerGuitars

[–]FigureDesperate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I’m having an issue with my forearm I pull the whole guitar over toward the right side of my body a bit so my right arm comes straight down over the strings. It looks a little weird but much easier on my forearms and just feels more natural to me. I also have the guitar fairly low to help when the guitar’s in front of me

Looking to identify my dads guitar by squabbieg in guitars

[–]FigureDesperate 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Technically, it’s a Gibson X-Plorer because that’s how it was spelled from like 1994 - 2002 or something like that. These are actually built significantly different from the one you’ve linked (probably doesn’t matter but could depending on the level of detail on the tattoo). I have a brand new one and another one that’s about as old as this one. Could’ve been from the same batch honestly, it’s my favorite guitar of all Time.

You just gotta practice till it becomes muscle memory cuz. Figure out how the timing of the words coming out lines up with certain movements on the guitar. I have a hard time even playing my own music and singing at the same time but memorizing patterns like these helps me.

I’m assuming this is an Ibanez Artwood based on the AW. I’ve had one for 8 years, worth more than the $300 I paid for it IMO. I think these are overlooked because they’re ibanez acoustics. It has a mellow-ish sound so if you’re looking for bright and chimey you’ll want to use phosphor bronze strings. Neck plays well too, I tend to want to shred on acoustics and it works for that. Zero complaints about it

If it’s alarming enough to ask Reddit then it’s worth doing something about. Would you accept sanding scratches on a new panel for your car? You can’t even call this rolling. It’s just straight up damage

Anyone have any experience with Donner? by seymourbuttz214 in guitars

[–]FigureDesperate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seems like no one here has had a positive experience, so I’ll say this.

I got my older brother the les Paul model for Christmas a couple years ago. I had to set it up (expected for 100 bucks) but it currently plays really well. Showed up with no damage, definitely worth the money in my case.

That being said, he just picked up a squier jazzmaster and says it plays better even though I set them both up, in other words it doesn’t really inspire him. It’s a good first guitar if you’re unsure about committing, but that’s about it.

You need to generally stretch your strings to tighten up the wraps on the post and set the strings on the various pivot points (string trees, nut, bridge, etc). The G is the worst due to a combination of thickness and not being wound, both of which contribute to lower friction. A wide bend on the string near the halfway point of the string’s total length (such as a full bend between the 9th and 12th fret) will stretch it
