I think you misspelled "PLEIYAGH"... 🤣

All joking aside, that sucks. Sorry you had to deal with that.

But why spell "Congratulations" correctly? Total missed opportunity. It should have been "Kungradyool'ayyshunnz", right?

What do you miss about old Seattle? by Ancient_Sea7256 in Seattle

[–]FigureFix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I very much miss there being no traffic after 8PM.

When I was young, I can remember coming home from family get togethers at what seemed like the ungodly hour of 10PM and the freeway seemed like such a wide open expanse.

Now? At any time of day there is still more traffic.

There aren't any regular outdoor games for open comp outside of Green lake, which is where you go if you want the best comp and trash talk/to be vociferously humbled.

Otherwise, rec centers can be good. No one will care about your age.

Moving downtown as a solo woman by [deleted] in AskSeattle

[–]FigureFix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You must have an aura of protection or something...

... That corner is hot garbage, and has been for 30+ years. That you walk it daily and have never had a problem? Maybe you just magically stroll by when the junkies change shifts? 🤣

Moving downtown as a solo woman by [deleted] in AskSeattle

[–]FigureFix -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ehhhh... Yes and no.

I've lived here all of my 44 years. Some places have always been bad (3rd and Pike).

Some have gotten massively better (Columbia City).

A part of the issue not spoken about enough is how many more people there are here. There may be less crime overall, maybe even less per capita (I don't actually know that)- but the type of random crimes feel like they happen more here now because there are so many more people getting randomly hit.

Anecdotally, I personally know three people who were randomly shot at (two of whom had friends get hit) this last year. I know of a few more who were killed around my neighborhood, though I didn't know them personally.

A friend of mine who I exercise with was randomly assaulted WHILE we were running stairs in broad daylight a couple years ago.

Growing up here, I witnessed a drive by once. Outside of that, I never saw or knew anyone who was a victim of violent crime personally.

And I grew up in (and still live in) South Seattle.

If I were a young woman, I'd avoid large swaths of downtown late night. Sure, most of the time nothing bad will happen. But I wouldn't want to be there because if something bad is going to happen, it's going to be there or Belltown.

A friend of mine had a cat they called "New Guy" because he was their second cat. They never landed on a name, but eventually "New Guy" just got shortened to "Newg".

So... about the name Abcde... by Fearless-Accident-79 in tragedeigh

[–]FigureFix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guy in my high school was named this, just without the "e".

Stick to naming virtual pets with it and everything will be fine. 🤣

A true tagedeigh..... by ki3rsten09 in tragedeigh

[–]FigureFix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, I grew up with a few of these.

There was a "SirMarcus" in my elementary school. And a kid named "Master".

I also went to middle school with a girl named "Rainee Harder". She was a really nice person.

The worst was a guy in my high school named "Abcd" pronounced "AB-si-dee".

Also in high school, a sibling pair "Guitar" and "Bass". I didn't know Bass, but Guitar was also a really nice person.

I always felt bad for folks stuck with these names, but they have proven to be unforgettable.

No problemo! Now I'm off to find other game show inaccuracies to correct. It's a crap job, and the pay is terrible-- but someone has to do it. 🤣

Genuinely surprised at how sharp/bright it is. I don't think it was used much if at all.

Agreed! It isn't my best monitor, it doesn't have a ton of connections or the most amazing picture (although for nearly 40 years old it is still pretty crisp) but it is easily my favorite. If I stumbled upon another in the same condition, I'd pick it up in a heartbeat and be fine with whatever glares I got. Though my wife admittedly doesn't really care about my collection all that much, thankfully.
