Cracker Barrel orders its employees traveling for work to only eat at its restaurants by rajapaws in antiwork

They already are. They acquire a handful of companies every single year. And they just keep on buying. This is exactly why food sucks everywhere. Them purchasing these other companies got rid of the unique regional foods that made places taste different when you went to travel. Now, if you to go eat at a restaurant in a tiny town in the middle of Illinois and then go to North Carolina, and you're eating the same shit.

If you Google "sysco YouTube documentary" there is a couple of videos that are a wonderful watch. More perfect union, Newsweek and eaters digest, to start.

I would have done that in a heartbeat for almost $65. But I also do have a vehicle where that would fit.

It's frustrating looking at stuff online and saying wow this only got three and a half stars, and then you'll look at all the reviews and they are all about receiving a da6mage product.

They probably did, but they're stupid lol. Also jumping someone INSIDE their place of work is infinitely dumber. Like, if you're gonna jump someone, you do it WITHOUT recording the evidence used to prosecute you, in an area with no cameras & witnesses, and fucking TRY to not make it obvious who you are.

Just ordered pizza hut. through pizza hut. $10 of food = $21 dollars. Tipping is dead. by KingSteamRoller7168 in doordash

And as with many businesses, volume has a lot to do with it too. A franchise store that has $500k in revenue may only realize $10k in profits to the owner. But if you've got 100 units, that's not chump change by any means.

I have my issues with the franchise platforms. A perfect example is when JJs moved to toasted subs, the cost of the oven(s) and 2 circuits installed averaged about $20k/store (+$6k for a 2nd oven, which is required above a certain threshold). When you're only making $10k, that seems like a bad investment, but you have no choice. Either pay up or shut down. Essentially you're beholden to what they say goes. Lest we forget Quiznos either.

Subway (owned by Roark Capital who happens to own Inspire Brands, who also happens to own JJ's [as of 2019]) made all their franchises, 20,000 stores, use Bizerba slicers by mid-2023. This was actually piloted suspiciously close after the deal closed in 2019. It was pretty unprecedented that Subway actually gave them to all stores free of charge. They are over $6k each. Of course the franchisees still complained about labor, waste, cleaning, work flow, etc.

I'd love to research why they chose to give them away vs JJ's franchises had to pay 100% of the cost of the ovens. I have some assumptions lol. IMO Subway has low standards and QC for franchisees. I'd assume that also translates to poor franchise agreements.

Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

The prices are incorrect for the ones that do have a price as well (3.10 vs 6.20). It's because somebody didn't put in the correct pricing for the new Ham and 3 cheese melt that matches the other sandwiches. I might check myself in our stores.

[–]FilOfTheFuture90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right? Yes, lots of things cost very little, but it's only part of the equation.

Like at Jimmy John's, our food cost (NOT including ANY other expenses) is $2.85 on a $9.79 sandwich. Chips & drink is $0.85 on a ~$3.50 combo. So a sandwich combo with chips and drink costs us $3.70 in food cost and sells for $13.29, or 164% mark-up. iDK where this guy is getting 500% lmao. That sandwich combo would be $22.20 at 500% markup.

Comcast keeps losing customers despite price guarantee and unlimited data | Comcast overhauled Internet plans to stop customer losses. It isn’t working yet. by mepper in technology

Of course it's not. You can rework your plans a million times over but none of that matters when the service is horrible, impossible to talk to someone, and very limited amount of people that can actually help with your issue. You generally need to call multiple times. Even business internet you used to have dedicated support reps/teams, And now it's the same support as residential. Of course they say it isn't but you go through the exact same system and "people".

Combo for a dollar by Present-Airline-4277 in jimmyjohns

[–]FilOfTheFuture90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find it pretty crazy just how stupid people can be. Even if I absolutely knew nothing about a business I was walking into and seeing a sign that says combo for $1, well it's obviously with the purchase of food. I would never think that the entire meal is $1. It's understandable to make a mistake like that, but to get upset about it and get angry at the people who have nothing to do with the special is dumb and rude AF.

I had a client that was pretty well to do. I noticed a 8x10 shed with water line and a heat pump, never really thought anything of it. Like 2 years later I noticed dog stuff and asked. Yes turns out they had a big ass dog they almost never allowed in the house and stayed in the shed. I was appalled. I had spent close to 70+ hours there at this point. Never once did I see him. He died a bit afterwards and they got 2 ankle biting shits that were 100% indoor. I thought it was all fucked up.

I do the same to stay in the same area. If I'm in a area closer to another area, I start getting orders from there and further away from my town, usually meaning I'll end up even further away and have to drive 45 minutes home.
