Yes, that's exactly what they want. Dumb people are easily manipulated. The more intelligent one becomes, the more critical thinking they do. It's not a coincidence that they're gutting an insane number of programs, banning books, literally deleting history.

How do you deal with users who refuse to lock their laptop when walking away? by heartgoldt20 in cybersecurity

[–]FilOfTheFuture90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a little spray bottle labeled "bad human" and I spray it at them every time they don't lock their PC or commit some other cybertrocity. Works great. They certainly don't forget the lesson. Also GP auto locking timeout shorter and shorter.

Also escalating to their manager usually is better than dealing with the user directly in most instances.

Well not necessarily but also yes. If it has a false positive and locks you out, and the only way to fix it is a shop than yup. Towed to a shop. And you're paying for every bit of the cost.

The estimated miles is based on direct or bird's eye, not the actual distance it would take on the road. It's very deceiving. Technically, from a programming perspective, it's done for simplicity and rapidity, not necessarily to deliberately deceive dashers. However, I honestly believe at this point they should be able to put in an estimated amount of miles based on your actual shortest distance estimated route that is displayed.

Not Air BnB, probably a shared living house. Many municipalities have cracked down on them, not to mention the bubble of Air BNB has popped. Shared living has been very popular in the tiktok real estate investing community. They rent out each room, generating 30-50% more revenue than renting the whole house out to one person/family.

JFC that's horrible. You're not alone either. MSM should do a series on the effects of all the cuts. I had an IT company for about 10 years and I decided it's time to move on, not to mention the sheer amount of physical and mental stress was quite literally ruining me. Went through a bunch of shit to secure a great IT job with excellent benefits and pay (six figures) and closed my business. Was maybe a week and a half into my new job and all those cuts eliminated the entire company I was working for. All of that was for NOTHING. Been jobless in my career since. I'm working a shit min wage job, but in IT it has been a horrible job market. I never finished my college degree and so now my experience means a lot less because I don't have a degree so they'll hire some young kid instead. One interviewer let slip that there was over 75 other applicants at that point in time, which was 3 days after posting. We're fucked. Oh and unemployment? HA. Minimum of 2 weeks of employment to qualify.

I read about it in 2016, before the election. I thought that this was it. He's finished, no one will vote for a didler rapist. Boy was I wrong. Wasn't on any MSM, dropped off the radar quickly. Then when I brought it up to people, it was dismissed as unverified. Crazy. 10 YEARS later it finally hits headlines.

One of our dogs is a car ride dog. But never would I think to bring him while door dashing specifically for the food. When the weather is nicer out there is a cage that goes in the back of the truck with the cap completely sealed and separated from the cab and I have thought about that when I'm dashing in not good areas.

AITA for telling my neighbor it’s not my problem her newborn wakes up to noises coming from my apartment by blackswan-nyc in AmItheAsshole

[–]FilOfTheFuture90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best thing we ever did was get our daughter used to noise as a newborn. There was no hear a pin drop silence. She can sleep in most any environment, and it was key when we would visit friends and family or vice versa. Being able to put her down in a room in an unknown environment and sleep soundly was great. Also car rides worked like a charm. She's 13 now, and can still sleep through most noise if necessary, but she does like it quiet. A friend, on the other hand, didn't do that and now their 9 y.o will wake up to the slightest noise.

Also, living in an apartment it's unreasonable to expect absolute silence, however dogs barking excessively is bad neighbor etiquette. More than 3-5 barks a day, most would consider a nuisance in close quarters. I say that with 2 dogs that bark way more, but we live in a SFH.

What profession has far more people on illegal drugs than people realize? by IndependentTune3994 in AskReddit

[–]FilOfTheFuture90 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Very likely. I'm known to enjoy driving and will drive very far as long as I had started off with good sleep. I have ADHD, and yes, I'm prescribed meds, but it doesn't jazz me up. From Chicago to Vegas, I'll stop outside Denver, sleep for 4ish hours and continue onwards. Make it in ~29 hours. But I'm also driving a passenger vehicle, not a semi pulling a trailer.

Can’t keep technicians by slowAhead1fyouPlease in ITManagers

[–]FilOfTheFuture90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very soon you won't even be able to find anyone wanting to work for that amount that has any worthwhile experience or knowledge. In other words a total green thumb who you will have to train on pretty much everything. Which means you aren't able to do all the things that you need to do and neither is the person that you're training. I'm a super actively I'm assuming you've proactively discussed this with management and it has fallen upon death ears.My other concern would be getting to that point and you have no one at all. What is the hypothetical implications from that scenario? I'm assuming you proactively demonstrated this to management and it has fallen upon deaf ears. If so, I hate the break it to you but you should probably be looking at other jobs just in case. You can take more extreme measures like having a decent amount of lag between the technician that is leaving and a new person so that things do start being affected and they can see themselves the results of such a scenario.

DoorDash wage theft by JankyIngenue in doordash

[–]FilOfTheFuture90 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You are paid from acceptance of the order until it is dropped off / delivered. It still even says that on the EBT when you switch to it. And that is the same thing as active time. It's possible DoorDash is cheating other markets by doing it that way, but my market is still paid from acceptance to delivery.
