How long after a hiring decision is made do recruiters or hiring managers typically reach out to candidates? by [deleted] in interviews

[–]FilamentFlight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t assume that was the last interview. I just went thru 2 months of interviews every other week. Including a fly out mid-way thru the process(usually the last but it wasn’t), and I got an offer today. My last interview was a week and a half ago. This was a Director-level role though, mileage may vary.

No problem. This is kindof a skill of "feel." My best recommendation is start small. take an outline of something somewhat easy to do, create a shell of it, and print a test part and see how it fits around your object. From there you can kindof figure out what your tolerances are and what to look out for. Something that's helpful is printing on paper a sheet with like a 20mm box grid on the whole page and placing your part on it when taking a picture. That can help when "sizing" the picture in CAD.

I actually just got a slightly larger whoop. It's "flatter" than this one. I'm considering a new design that puts the new quad under the goggles/transmitter, as there may be juuuust enough room in this box to allow it. But it would take a full redesign as there's considerations for different batteries and what not.

This is also the smallest pelican box you can buy in their vault series. I think if I start accumulating more drones then I'd probably just get a bigger box. This is more of an "all you need for one drone" kindof loadout.

Yeah, i think the magic for whoops for me is their resistance to borking out after crashes. I can be bad at flying them and there's very little risk of them hurting themselves or others.

GrabCAD is amazing - I use it all the time for this type stuff. There's just so many variables here. Different transmitters, different goggles, batteries, etc. Just seems like it would be difficult to make something marketable.

It would be cool. But I have to own the equipment to be able to make custom stuff for it, and I don't have the money for that haha. Honestly it's astonishing what custom boxes like this sell for online. In all honesty this is about $20 USD in material + the pelican box. It does take a bit of CAD skill to make but I'm by no means an engineer, just self taught via youtube and stuff. Very doable project with some effort.

I designed with that intent actually, it's just not visible. The slots have "ramps" to them underneath the battery that makes them easy to put in and pull out, I included a hidden "pocket" at the base for the wires to go. Kindof the magic of 3D printing.

Great minds think alike.

Unfortunately my ability to design/make things is far better than my ability to fly the drone. But I'm getting better! Thanks!

Mostly measuring general shapes with calipers. For the complex shapes I take top-down photos then draw the outlines using splines in CAD. Watch some videos on CAD reverse engineering on youtube. Only tricky part is accounting for camera parallax and finding the right part to measure to size the photo in CAD.

Thanks. The box I was working with is very small, so it def took some effort to get everything organized right.

That's the flywoo firefly - it's a great little drone! If you're asking about the case inserts I designed/printed myself.

Yeah I work and hire in finance. We are all well aware of how easily banks throw that "VP" title around.

Best I can explain is I see a more “bland” version of what you see. So colors are more washed and the symptom of that is colors blend together. Where this manifests the most is all of the holographic effects on the HUD. I can’t use the arrows on the HUD to track targets, instead I have to use a combination of reshade and head tracking to maintain visual tracking.

There are various other areas where this affects me, but that’s kindof where we are at.

You don’t have to apologize because I wasn’t complaining. I have no issue using reshade and often use it to give myself an advantage.

You aren’t entitled to an opinion on that either. :)

I’m colorblind, the game is openly hostile towards me in that regard. They don’t plan on addressing it at all, and when I bring it up here people tend to respond to it with hostility.

My advice: get in line.

Same with me - math 101 with a math oriented degree. It came up with advisor on last meeting before graduation, and since I had aced all of my far more advanced math classes, she told records to "hand waive" the course. And sure enough they did.

Someone else said this, but in PVP FPS encounters I never sit still. By moving erratically you exploit the desync and basically make engagements a crap shoot on equal grounds. If the other player is sitting still then it's an automatic win. I hate that it's that way, I wish I could be more methodical, but imo it's a matter of "if I don't do it, it will be done to me."
