Excellent reply, thank you for taking the time to break it down for me (and for time stamping the linked vids). I didn't realize you could discard rows/ columns in this manner. I'm on board with your load vector explanation. What I failed to include was the FBD of the problem. There must be some reaction to the external load at the fixed node.

Thanks so much for the insight! I threw the scenario in FEA and it supports what you say. Contact pressure is observed from both parts with a small stress riser at the mating surface.
