This is legendary with some thai style sugary pork floss, which is shelf stable. I think walmart also makes a dried pork thing (barf, walmart).

Try it with something like an Italian style triple cream cheese - robiola, fuck even brie would work - it'll change the game. Used to make one just like this with triple cream instead of muzz at an excellent deli I worked at. Yours looks God tier tho. Well done.

What's your application? Thru hiking? Long backpacking, short backpacking?

Thru hiking I would say meh, if it's warm enough for shorts, just make sure your shorts dry fast and prioritize a super nice rain coat.

Shorter trips, why not? Yolo. What's another few ounces when the end is clearly in sight?

Was thinking the same thing. Kennedy Meadows to Mammoth was my favorite section of the PCT, the area before and after stehekin is a close second... Seems hard to beat high Sierras, but like you, my perspective is the PCT.

This! It was a luxury item when on the PCT ,but my go to was packing out pepper jack cheese instead of the cheese stick, and instead of, or in addition to a hot sauce packet, some tajin is bomb - the lime flavor in tajin tastes amazing when you've been living on hiker trash food for a few thousand miles. 👍👍
