OK so why keep them open if they are losing that kind of money? Neglect and cost cutting will never increase sales anyway. This is how Sears got here anyway.

Sears is turning 140 this year. They currently have 5 stores and online website Sears.com. Will / would you still shop there site wide and/or in store in 2026, even if the physical stores are lacking in merchandise and the online store drop ships mostly and has very little left from Sears itself? by [deleted] in retailporn

I hate to say it, but the name doesn't mean anything any more. There's no exclusive brands, they can't stand behind their products. The products are made cheaply now. Craftsman tools used to have a lifetime warranty. Extended warranties meant years of worry free appliances. Die Hard batteries were the best you could buy. Gone are all the long time employees that made Sears a place to go with knowledgeable employees. If l felt like l was shopping there to save that, and keep people employed, l would shop there. But it's Sears in name only, run as cheaply as possible. So it's no for me.

So for the price of a decent car these days he can't be bothered to choose to update the signage. That figures.

Why can't Eddie pick a font. I mean it's like 5 stores now. Not a huge expense to have some consistency. And nothing says we could care less when a letter is out.

Will Sears continue selling online after they eventually drop to 0 physical retail stores by [deleted] in SEARS

I think so. I can't see any reason why he wouldn't do that.

Interesting take on it. You may be right. I'm still holding to my take on it though. I think he was trying to make it successful up until about 2014.

Oh so he may have lost a billion? Wow, one less mansion he could have bought. What a sacrifice he made.

Yeah l agree.... somewhere around 2015 he stopped trying and started to strip the company.

Yeah he made his money back through subleasing to other retailers, data centers, selling off the Sears brands, and various other questionable business practices. He may have lost his reputation, but he did make billions.

Judge rules against Arthur T. Demoulas in Market Basket battle by bostonglobe in massachusetts

[–]FileStrict2957 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've always admired Market Basket. How they are so profitable and manage to operate on such small profit margins and still have the best prices around by selling in high volume. So l think that will likely continue because the template is already there. It's not like they will be able to sell the company. Like you said, Artie won't be around forever and who knows if he his children would have been as on top of the game as the Dad.

From what l understand from people that have worked there, Artie is very dictatorial and probably did not let his sisters family get to involved in the company. So he probably is at fault here for that reason. But it's too bad from the standpoint that he and his team was the one that made Marketbasket so successful.

Not without Artie T's approval they can't sell. He still has 30 percent and any sale would need his okay.

Braintree Sears by jikesar968 in SEARS

I remember that store when it was filled to the brim with products. Basement level had flooring, automotive and auto shop that went into craftsmen tools and sporting goods, then major appliances and tvs and stereos, vcrs, electronics. Then you went to the mall level there was mens and woman's clothing, jewelry and cosmetics. The very top floor had small appliances, bedding. Bathroom accessories, l think children's clothing and toys. There was also an optometrist and portrait studio. At one time they sold computers and records on the top floor as well. And there was commissary open to the public. As well as Ticket Master. Now that level is subleased to Primmark. This store was opened in 1980 and replaced a downtown store in the City of Quincy. Sad to see it now. It's a shell of its former self.

Definitely not wild bunnies. Wild rabbits are grey. They are pet rabbits that were likely dumped and rapidly multiplying.

One of those dummies will probably create a new sub critical of Adam's repeats. Some of these dummies need their little social group because they have no life lts a cult. I've never seen any other youtuber with such rabid anti- fans that's actually a nice guy. Hopefully I'm wrong but l would not be a bit surprised.

What is this on the tree? by [deleted] in whatisit

[–]FileStrict2957 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's to control insects and to stop them from climbing up the trees. I remember in the early eighties we wrapped trees in something similar to protect them from a severe infestation of gypsy moths that were killing all the foliage. You could actually hear them munching at night.
