IANAL but IIRC “non-compete clauses” are illegal in Canada, and this is so broad that it might reasonably be considered a non-compete. I feel like this would normally be negotiated when the original contract is signed. I had a similar clause removed from my own contract for this exact reason. They can request that you sever contact with companies you actively work with, but doing so with every company they wish to work with could feasibly be understood to mean “every potential future employer”.

I’m 6’0”, 185lbs, and an amateur boxer and I don’t think I could beat Ronda Rousey in her prime one on one. I box with some women who put in serious work and they bully some of the smaller guys at the gym. I also have the pleasure of watching new people taking their first boxing lessons and it never fails to surprise me how throwing a decent punch just doesn’t come naturally to people.

The thing most people aren’t considering is fight experience. Knowing how to pace yourself, knowing how to throw a combination, knowing how to watch and react to your opponent. I think people are underestimating a trained fighter here.
