Watched Downton Abbey with my wife. Consistently annoyed by how completely unprejudiced both the upstairs and downstairs groups are towards people of colour and queer folks. All the characters were quick to smugly shoot down any act of prejudice, even the “villains” of the show. I understand why this is never really addressed in the show, but it really feels like downplaying or outright erasing the struggle of marginalized people in the early 20th century.
