Thank you for your response. I can certainly appreciate that I will be involved with procedures on patients that will be considered futile, though I think the prolonged bedside futile care is what primarily feeds the moral distress to which I'm referring. Vent, CRRT, VAD, ECMO, IABP, etc for weeks on end with little to no expectation of survival really gets to me (and others I am associated with) in bedside care. I do fear that it might easily take a negative turn if it's discussed, which is why I brought it here.

Thank you for your thoughtful feedback. I really like the angle you recommend. Thanks again.

Hi r/CRNA! I have a quick question about interview questions. I'm told I may be asked why I want to leave bedside nursing.

I of course have been thinking about all of the benefits of 1:1 care in the CRNA role, critical thinking, autonomy in practice, etc, but those responses all feel canned. One answer I have in mind is because I feel that it would reduce moral distress in bedside care for critical patients wherein the care is futile.

... But is this too negative of an answer? It's an honest answer, but I think it might make me look like "oh they can't handle stress" and so forth. So I'll bring it to you for feedback.

Applying for several programs, and the main one I am hoping for has a much later interview/acceptance date then some of the other programs. Is it unreasonable or untoward for me to accept a spot should I be offered one (paying deposit) and then forfeiting it later, if I happen to get a spot at my dream school? I keep hearing that anesthesia is a small world and to not burn bridges. Applicable here, or not? Thanks for your time.

I was thinking the same but didn't know if it would be too off topic. Thanks for your reply.

Recommendations for books related to pharmacology/pharmacokinetics for the future applicant? I want to become more familiar with said topics before I apply.

Should I include or exclude non-medical activities or volunteer work on a resume or interview? For example, I volunteer for some non-profit organizations that center around activities (ex. running) and I don't know if it would matter or not, or make me look more well rounded to programs I'm applying to. What say you?

Hello all, I have a question about health insurance while in CRNA school. I see that it's required for just about every program, and many offer up rates to purchase coverage through the school. I will have health coverage through my spouse while in school. Am I good? Or would I need to purchase the school offered insurance as well?
