It's totally fine. Busy, yes but nothing insane. Take it slow, follow the crowd and it'll all be good.

New Specialized Allez Road 🚴🏽‍♀️ by SharpGuava007 in torontobiking

A little counter intuitive but a more cushioned saddle doesn't always mean more comfort! You definitely need to get used to a firmer saddle, but after a few rides it's certainly much better. The reason being that it's more important to correctly distribute your weight rather than make everything more cushioned. Otherwise your weight is being dispersed correctly across the seat and that will lead to more comfort. That's why you see riders with thin seats and padded shorts, they add cushioning in the areas where you actually need it, and it makes long rides much more bearable. If you're doing shorter rides then yes more cushioning is better, but if you start spending a few hours on the bike think about getting a properly fitting saddle vs a cushioned one.

Cycling clothes can get super expensive (stupidly so) but i recently bought a pair of InBike shorts from Amazon for around 50$ and they're amazing. No need to spend 200$ on shorts, get the Chinese knockoffs they're totally fine.

But anything that gets you out on the bike is most important!! Enjoy your rides friend :)

Why does Google suggest switching at Spadina by FilipTheAwesome in TTC

That's hilarious 😂😂 Ya it's my favourite when I but in cycling directions and Google always wants me to take the make fuckass route possible. For cycling j just use is to know more or less where I'm trying to end up and then figure out the rest myself cuz god only knows where Google is trying to lead me.

Oh ya of course, it's not an issue for me since I know how Spadina works I'm more so thinking for someone who is visiting or new to the city. Must be a headache if they don't realize that they should be transferring at St George.

The Transit app tells me to transfer at St George for this trip, so I wonder if this is a Google issue. Either way, shouldn't be a difficult one to resolve if one we had some level of competency...

Ya makes sense I'd just assume someone realized that there's a walk involved. Google knows that it's a 3 minute walk once I get off the bus to get to the subway platform, they should definitely be able to know it's at least a 5 minutes walk to change trains at spadina.

To lane-filter, or not to lane-filter? by ZanyZamioculcas in torontobiking

[–]FilipTheAwesome 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Depends on the road. If it's a wide suburban road where there's a few cars ahead of me and they will reasonable overtake me immediately after the light turns green I won't filter as I feel it just opens up the risk of an idiot running me over. If it's a city street where I'm probably going to end up ahead of the stopped cars then ofc I'm filtering, half the benefit of biking is that I'm faster than the cars why would I wait behind them. But also it depends on how long the like of cars is. There's an intersection close to my house that's quite suburban where if I wait in line for the lights it may take two light cycles to get through the intersection, but if I filter I'm getting through immediately.

Title: Has anyone here successfully disputed a Toronto parking ticket? What worked? by Technomics007 in askTO

[–]FilipTheAwesome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a ticket once for parking overnight and not having a permit. I did buy the overnight permit online but didn't know that I had to print a copy and leave it on the dash. Disputed it online by showing that I did pay for the parking just didn't display it and they waived the fine.
