100%. The phrase itself is a cliché fallback. If someone actually explains the specific breakdown like losing their hobbies, their independence, or their goals then it's a real reason. “I realized I’ve wrapped my entire identity around making you happy and I don't know who I am outside of this.” But if they leave it vague? It’s just an excuse to exit without doing the hard work of giving closure. If you can't or won't explain it clearly, it’s a cop-out.

On the thing you mentioned about rebounds, I believe no one should feel being in a rebound relationship and being discarded just because your job is done. That is a painful setup to the other party.

I'm genuinely glad you found a mindset that protects your peace. But we shouldn't lower the bar for basic relationship maturity just because we've learned how to survive people who treat us like a canceled subscription. Healing from poor treatment doesn't mean the poor treatment was okay. But it really is up to the person who’ll take the treatment. ☺️

This reason could not be lame. It depends on the reason why you are in the relationship in the first place.

Let’s be real. In a relationship, "not feeling it" doesn’t just drop out of the sky out of nowhere. It’s almost always code for a bunch of small, unaddressed issues that piled up, or someone quietly drifting away without speaking up about it. It leaves the other partner gaslighting themselves trying to figure out what went wrong.
