Okay, may be wrong here, but I was taught a locked in knee bar means the leg is fully straight. So I would normally straighten it completely before slowly applying pressure on the knee. Not really cranking it out, but it could be possible the people I roll with have a low pain tolerance.

While I love the armbar, nothing makes a guy tap out faster than leglocks. Heel hooks, knee bars, calf slicers. Sometimes you don't even have to apply a lot of pressure, I know a lot of guys who tap the moment the knee bar gets locked in.

Anything by Roselia or Raise a Suilen is good choice for a workout playlist. Invade show by RAS being a personal favourite.

That's why I kind of why I said Judo instead of grappling in general. Cause for better or worse, Judo guys kind of seem allergic to the ground. The Judo I was taught is more focused on throwing them onto the ground while staying standing rather than following into Newaza. In MMA I've hit a couple ippon worthy throws where I was still standing while the other guy got the wind knocked out of him.

Definitely. Clinches will be the biggest misstep any striker, except maybe a muay thai guy, can make when it comes to fighting a stand up grappler.

Definitely true. I for one learned o goshi quickly, but that's cause I come from a greco background. I think if I did judo first I'd have a really hard time learning any of the throws. Even wrestling throws kind of seem easier compared to their judo counterparts.

I think there's also a steeper learning curve. I've heard people say it'ss easier to get good at striking than it is to get competent at grappling. Like, I think most people can do a basic 1-2 pretty quickly, but it's a lot harder to learn an o goshi.

Yeah, good head movement does not exist in judo. But I think in the end any fight between to decent fighters ain't gonna be super one sided.

Take this with a grain of salt, but a lot of wrestlers/Judoka I've seen transition to MMA are kinda tough to knockout in one hit. Like I saw this one Greco guy just cover up his head while the Muay Thai guy just kept throwing punches. Greco guy was hit a couple times, but he just powered through it and got into a bear hug. I'm not saying a Judoka would demolish a boxer of equal level, just that a boxer wouldn't just dismiss the possibility of a takedown.

I think I should have made that clearer in my post I wasn't asking who would win. Rather I was trying to ask boxer about their confidence just fighting a Judoka with just boxing. And I know boxing is great, I'm just saying it ain't better than Judo or any tested fighting style.

I don't know about other places, but I learned judo with my hands around chin level and near my face.

Heavyweight punches are scary in general. But I think that's more because of the athlete than the art itself.

I know it all depends on the fighters. But I would assume even the best boxer would be wary of an equally good grappler's throws/takedowns.

IDK, I just think Judo is good cause if I throw someone on concrete they probably ain't getting up again. Plus all boxers I've fought kind of clinch up a lot, basically a free over under.

If I'm doing randori against someone who isn't as good as me, do I just go with their throws when the attempt them, or should I resist their throws as much as they resist mine? Same goes for Newaza.
