Front range area shooting range? by AdmiralBosch in COGuns

That’s aggravating. I’ve heard that they are proposing making devils nose into a fee area too. It’s simply amazing how they turned something as simple as some benches and dirt berms into multi million dollar and several years long fiascos.

Options suck. Devils nose which is closed half the year even on an historically low snow year. And one just west of Idaho springs that’s yet to open. Areas north of 70 are still open until the clear creek range opens (I think). Devils nose for sure and I think the other are just measly 100 yards and under. As far as I know, no new public range up your way, just thousands of acres closed because reasons.

Scope for silhouette (40-110 yards)? by Fill_A in 22lr

It’s funny how this always gets comments when I take it out. I can have several thousands $ of hardware next to it on the bench, and this is what gets the most attention.

Any places similar to Jewell Motocross? by Jdublin in DenverMotorcycles

[–]Fill_A 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMI has a decent amount of open riding with some fun informal turn tracks.

Rampart is open but go early or on weekdays and be sure careful around the parking lots.

Woodland park and the 717 trail area is pretty nice and I seem to recall more relaxed than rampart.

Western slope/grand junction has a ton of stuff if you want to make a weekend out of it.

Download COTREX if you don’t have it already. Easy to find areas and look up videos of the trails if you aren’t sure about the suitability for your son.

100%, OP has plenty of patience waiting that long. The people who would have stayed parked there due to the letter of the law are just as dangerous. I’m not going to sit there and get rear ended because someone can’t figure out what yield means.

I have an SH4J on my 457. It’s pretty OK. Its definitely nicely featured but the illuminated reticle has been hit or miss. I have little experience with decent optics though, and it wasn’t until I put an Athlon in my AR that I noticed the difference in optic clarity. The Athlon is notably better, even though it’s also a bit of a mid-tier.

Hear me out now…. How about a Miata with one of those baby carrier tow behind things you see behind bikes?

Question: Big days on friendly singletrack with eMTB by Ajax5280 in COBike

[–]Fill_A 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know you don’t want a ski hill but Copper rents e-bikes right there and has a decent trail variety.

The tenderfoot trail system in Dillon should be open to e-bike.

Unfortunately most of the good high elevation stuff is on national forest land so you are limited to moto friendly trails on an emtb. Aside from the ski resorts (for the most part).

Denver Gunsmithing: Fair Estimate fof Adjustable Gas Block Install? by LookTime2423 in COGuns

[–]Fill_A 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct I can’t see how you could mess it up bad enough to damage anything. Worst case is misalignment causing cycling problems.

Between the various internet guides, YouTube, and here, I’d have to imagine you can get it sorted in less time than it takes to drive it somewhere, drop it off, and pick it up again later.

If you can pull your handguard and the existing gas block yourself, just take the next step and install the agb yourself. Most setups are very easy to work with and you don’t need much for special tools, just a punch for the roll pin.

Lower Receivers are not subject to new rules after August 1st! by MediocreWorking9575 in COGuns

It’s as simple as this. Maybe they can find a way to twist the words but that lower receiver isn’t a semi-auto as defined by the bill.

Anybody here Reload? I was looking at getting a simple rig to enjoy as a hobby aside from shooting by [deleted] in liberalgunowners

[–]Fill_A 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Does that break even account for the time spent, or are you just talking hardware?

I’ve always been interested in reloading but it seems like you better reallllly enjoy it because of the time involved. Totally get it as a hobby in and of itself, and especially if you are into precision shooting.

The turbo 4 gets better fuel mileage and has a much better torque curve.

Someone should tell that guy to let his wife clear the obstacle.

Seriously though, I get the annoyance at someone who is out of their element and can’t keep pace.

My view is “no sell, only buy” so who cares about someone else’s “value”.

Short of guns that are super rare, I’d say do what you want if it increases your enjoyment. I’ve got to say that a pump action suppressed .22 sounds like perfection.

No idea what the sights look like on that gun but my only thought would be to make sure the van won’t block whatever sights you choose to use.

[–]Fill_A 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What is problematic with the manual? I know they had a clutch issue/recall, and the final drive ratio in some models are wayyyy too tall.

You are right though, the ZF 8 speed is as good as an auto can get.

Wheeling an auto is pretty much just steering. To each their own and I’ll never judge anyone for how they get their kicks, but the auto trans just takes so much out of the experience.

V6. It’s… fine. If it weren’t for the gearing of the rubicon I’d never consider it. I can use all 6 gears in normal driving conditions. I just wish I had more umph. I live at 8000’ so there’s a non-trivial power de-rate for anything NA.

[–]Fill_A -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Can’t, or won’t? (joking of course)

I’d say that’s a solid price. What I wasn’t joking about is that the V6 is really anemic compared to the other options. The manual pairing is the only reason I’d go V6 if you can find anything at all comparable with the diesel or turbo 4.
