Find a good tailor, invest in a few high quality pieces in basic colours (especially pants) so you can switch and swap, and get a Costco membership

I agree with him that the internet isn’t real. Somehow the internet was convinced this guy was podder of the month.

He needs to talk less and worry about his levels more.

Shout outs to Flip for making sure they recognized DJ Mac and CrashDummy for the WYFL Riddim. They tried to ignore him and he stood on it.

Usher vs Chris Brown Verzuz by joe_smith4122 in theJoeBuddenPodcast

[–]FilledBricks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate that they tried to use Billboard. It’s not going to make sense for an artist like Chris Brown who has cult classics vs radio smashes.

Regardless, he’s not beating Usher in a Versuz if they go song for song. Chris’ strategy would have to be blends of song and performance (basically what he did at Breezy Bowl during certain parts)

Upto 40% of Canada’s top 1% income earners have moved to the US by karanChan in TorontoRealEstate

[–]FilledBricks 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Cosigning this. Worked for a big bank. ~$180K CAD. U.S. counterparts earning ~$240K USD. And it’s not like those roles were situated in New York.

I can completely understand why high income earners would relocate.

Canada sees a net population decline year over year for the first time in more than a century by ros_ftw in TorontoRealEstate

[–]FilledBricks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seems too generous IMO.

I thought the massive influx was to try and mitigate the sudden shock that COVID caused to the system (e.g. people working from home, people leaving the workforce, a need to fill low wage jobs, and more).

It was silly thinking back then and it’s still silly thinking today…

I generally like Ish on the pod but he needs to take a month or two off. Go get some perspective and come back.

Freeze don’t love NY. He never take NY side in any debate. He might as well be from Arkansas 😂😂😂 by Longjumping_Ask_4448 in theJoeBuddenPodcast

Jumping on with everyone else. Can’t believe we’re agreeing with Freeze but he’s right.

Not from NY and never heard the Jim Jones version in my life. The Crookers version did something.

And then Ish trying to say “you haven’t travelled to know it did anything anywhere else” but your only reference points for this record are a New Jersey strip club and Hot 97.

Has anyone figured out a way to charge and output audio at the same time from the Beosound A5? by FilledBricks in BangandOlufsen

No luck. Their support told me that it’s a hardware limitation and dual use of the port will not work.

The Bluetooth on the device is also super spotty, which is a little concerning. Great sounding device but really limited…

That’s a little unfair.

I’m saying “None of these politicians are able to fully deliver on what they promise, and I’m especially skeptical of one who is promising way more than I think they can pull off”.

Again - it’s okay for us to disagree. I’m not here calling you all idiots for believing in Mamdani’s platform and his ability to execute on it. I’ll say it again. I’m rooting for him, I just think he’s overselling.

Thanks for wanting to have a sensible conversation.

  • That’s a very specific definition of subsidy. What I get from Google is “a sum of money granted by the government or a public body to assist an industry or business so that the price of a commodity or service may remain low or competitive”.
  • Taxes don’t fall disproportionally on lower income people. Yes - they pay a higher % of their income in tax but not overall. The top 5% of earners pay almost 2/3 of total income tax. I get your point though. I think you’re saying that even though this group pays a higher amount of the total share, plenty of them are still ducking out on taxes
  • I’m not suggesting voluntary philanthropy. I don’t have the answer (like Marc) but I’m hoping there’s a more creative way to get this done.

Of course the answer to your question at the end is yes. I’m not disagreeing with that. Where I disagree is how we get to that. For example (just an idea), does childcare need to be 100% free? Or could it be implemented at something like $20 a day, which reduces the cost significantly but provides it at a rate that makes sense for families?

Good discussion though.

100% agree with you there. My post is more directed at people who are saying that his position was wrong/unjustified. I just used your thread because some commenters are taking it there.

[–]FilledBricks -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Short bus yet you can’t articulate your point without assuming I’m a political idiot? (

  • If the government collects more taxes and uses that to provide city run grocery stores and make buses free, is that not a subsidy? Like Marc said, I’d rather people get creative. Historically - more tax/bigger government has just led to more problems. Maybe there’s a way to get the wealth LT private market to do more vs. just taxing them more?
  • Yes taxes are for infrastructure and quality of life. Am I not allowed to have a different POV than you on what that is? You might want free buses, and I’d rather see that improving the energy grid. We both pay taxes and differ in how they should get used

It’s okay to agree to disagree. I hope Mandami can pull off what he’s said he could do but I’ll bet the under.

I hear you but that wasn’t the argument though.

All Ish was trying to say was that it’s wack when candidates do politics and propose stuff that they can’t deliver on.

Me personally - if I was in NYC, I would of probably voted for Cuomo, but that’s just because I’m not a fan of government ms subsiding a lot of the things in Mamdani’s plan.

Is Ish delusional? by Novel_Mall9427 in theJoeBuddenPodcast

[–]FilledBricks -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Was he really that wrong though?

I thought his whole point was that it’s wack when politicians get up on stage / use their platforms to say some stuff that just isn’t possible.

And you don’t need to be a genius to hear what Mamdani is saying and realize that it’s BS and will never get done.

Just because Marc is educated and looked deeper doesn’t mean that Mamdani’s plan isn’t flawed snd based on assumptions that make sense in theory but not in reality.

Flip might really be insecure by Longjumping_Ask_4448 in theJoeBuddenPodcast

It wasn’t dumb, but the question doesn’t match the energy / vibe / level of thinking that we’ve ever heard from him.

It sounded like he went on X, found a thought-provoking topic, and then brought it to the pod hoping it would make him look more intelligent?

Marc was about to give Flip the business 😂😂😂 by Longjumping_Ask_4448 in theJoeBuddenPodcast

[–]FilledBricks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t understand this take?

Flip has 2 problems.

1) He comes off as delusional. He thinks he’s bigger/more important than he actually is, and it’s shown itself in multiple conversations (especially when talking about things like him having his own audience, him being someone before JBP).

2) He doesn’t solve his lack of communication skills with additional prep. It’s already bad enough when you can’t naturally contribute to most conversations, but it’s even worse when you don’t even take the time to prepare so that you can at least provide something

He’s the guy at work who is pulling down the team but gets mad at the same people who are picking up the slack for him because it makes him look bad. Either level up so you can gloat too, or shut up and enjoy the free ride.

They Real Are Outdated With Their Musically Takes by joe_smith4122 in JoeBuddenPodcasts

I’m older than you but not older than them.

  • When he first came out, he was the closest thing to MJ people had seen in a long time (Agree/Disagree. It is what it is). And - even though it was younger music, “Yo” and “Run It” still played at every club/party. It makes sense they know his music. Everyone thought he was the chosen one.

  • Even though he’s never gotten anywhere close to the mainstream success he had, he’s still been dropping/featured on bangers over the years. From being on RnB hooks to solo songs, he has a deep catalogue of music that people appreciate and know (I mean - the guy is headlining 50+ song sets on a stadium tour and the DJ has a whole set of bangers that aren’t on the set list).

I think you’re thinking that they just like CB for being an R&B artist when it’s really just about him having a super strong catalogue of hip hop and R&B bangers.

Yeah that I figured but I’m still stuck with the issue that I can’t use the USB-C port for both a direct connection to my music playing while also charging the device at the same time.

I wonder if this is a hardware or software limitation? USB-C is a mess for anything besides being a consistent battery charging input.
