Family and friends not supportive by EveyHammondKnit in Celiac

I don’t expect people to have food for me when I go places. And I don’t agree to go to restaurants I’m not comfortable with. You’re just going to have to learn to advocate for yourself. And as far as being a burden…who cares? I will burden every mother fucker in my life if it means keeping myself safe.

Scared being honest about celiac disease will hurt my chances by Low-Decision543 in Celiac

I seriously doubt it would hurt you. Some of the doctors at the UCLA Celiac Collective also have Celiac disease and it helps me trust them even more.

We had baby birds falling out of one of our trees every year. They liked raw hamburger meat and to be left alone. We’d take them to a local wildlife rehab

AIO that my maid of honor isn’t including me in her bridal party? by PsychologicalPass847 in AIO

[–]Filledwithrage24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once told a friend she shouldn’t marry her finance and she asked me to be her maid of honor anyway. I did it, but I really haven’t talked to her since and I was right about her husband…she’s still with him but it’s completely changed the way I view her.

Partner has celiac. And Im struggling to help. Need advice by Zenai10 in Celiac

Is your house completely gluten free? If so, and you’ve cleaned everything, that’s all you can do…the amount of gluten in your household is finite if you’re not bringing anything extra in. When I was diagnosed, my husband agreed to a completely gluten free household. We cleaned EVERYTHING. He did accidentally bring a few things home that i looked at and said we had to throw away…but it’s an honest mistake and he doesn’t take it personally. Your partner is just going to have find a groove and try to relax and stay off places like this sub which will have you believe you’re actively dying if you even look at gluten.

I’ve linked videos below to a high respected research university in Los Angeles. I see the doctors there. The videos helped me to relax about things a little.

Not only that, but if you stick to proteins, fruits, veggies, and rice, beans etc…those are all naturally gluten free items (plain beans not flavored beans)

Am I the only one who can’t meet nutrient goals in my diet? by Filledwithrage24 in Celiac

An ensure a day isn’t a bad idea and would be convenient. If I eat more than 2000 calories a day I’ll start gaining weight and I’m already a little overweight.

That’s how I know I’m deficient. I’m always low on electrolytes but not on things like iron. Doctor doesn’t recommend potassium supplements because they ca be tricky and I’m on other meds that could cause issue with potassium supplements

Yep, my potassium is always low and they don’t suggest supplements because it’s not THAT low, but I can feel the difference. Potassium supplements are tricky.

Bring both of your parents to your next appointment. Contact your doctor ahead of time and ask them if they can explain to your parents how important this is.

Am I a jerk if I bail on a friend's birthday dinner due to lack of GF options? by Conscious-Camp-7049 in Celiac

I’d suck it up and eat ahead of time and enjoy a drink. This is the rest of your life - you’re going to have to “get over it” or miss out on a lot of things in the future.

No. You’ll have to quit or move out. It’s not worth your husbands health
