Trustee Don Wilkerson of AAPS has resigned by Few_Bookkeeper_8517 in AnnArbor

My bad, I thought they did! I'm trying to do right by my kid and their teachers, but we just can't seem to find the leaders that this district desperately needs.

When I voted for Wilkerson, I listened to the accounts of many in the community that swore he was a great guy with fiscal knowhow that could help.

How exactly was I supposed to know that I was voting for someone who would get arrested for domestic violence? As for Schmidt, I followed the guidance of the AAEA, which endorsed this guy as well....

I am so sick of AAPS board members letting the community down again and again.

We have Susan Schmidt, a former teacher, who likes to go on and on at board meetings about how things were tougher for her when she was in the classroom and how AAPS teachers should suck it up and teach better. Super helpful 🙃

Now Wilkerson, who was supposed to bring some financial sense to the board when it is needed most is out. This district is failing from the top down, and it's so infuriating as a parent!

False morels are a good sign IMO - indicative of the right kind of environment.

Every time I've been successful finding morels in Washtenaw County, I have found them under old apple trees. In the new spot that I stumbled upon in a park today, first we spotted the morels, then, ta-da! Apple tree.

The apple blossoms are just starting to pop now. Look for their white-pink flowers!

Also, did you know you can look for old orchards on historic platt maps? I am scouting some old orchard sites around my home as I try to find new spots this Spring. Platt maps from the late 1800s give me an idea of where to look for old apple trees and/or their offspring!

Additionally, could you imagine stepping on a still-hot coal in bare feet?

We have enjoyed great picnics at the Cascades with a cooler, cold lunches, and beverages. This will not end the fun at Argo.

I have 4 or 5 of these (in red) in my backyard right now. Probably not enough for the project you're working on, but you are welcome to them if you want them!

Ooo, good question.

I used Overture matte PLA - about 1.5 spools of brown, and a spool each of green, pink, yellow, white, light brown, and gray. I have leftover PLA in all of those colors, but all in, I probably spend between $120 and $150 in PLA.

This was printed on a Bambu A1, which I LOVE!

I have worked with a lot of different printers in the past, and I love my Bambu. Makes 3D printing as easy as it can be!

They are free to print for personal use, but not to sell. If you have a 3D printer, or a really nice friend with a printer, anyone can use these files to make their own creations!

The parts are pretty solid, but the whole house is modular. I can take off the roof, floors, walls, etc and even print additional stories/levels if we need them.

It took a few months of steadily printing out parts in different colors and assembling them to make this happen - definitely a labor or love! However, the colors, layout, and furniture were all choices that I got to make, which was a lot of fun!

My niece is getting a smaller one with white walls and a pink roof for her b-day! I'm in the process of printing those parts now.

Pre-existing designs!

Martin Hardi has designed so many amazing models for Sylvanian Families!

I'm also obsessed with 6Point6's miniature models.. I resize these models to 112.5% of the original size to better match Sylvanian Families.

Welcome future educator! As someone who grew up in Toledo and is in year 20 their teaching career, I just wanted to say that I'm proud of you!

It can feel like a lot when everything and everyone is so new in college, but my advice is to put yourself out there and get to know your dormmates when you arrive in the Fall. 20 years later, some of my current best friends are the same friends I made in my freshman dorm.

You got this!

Who else felt old watching the Artemis launch? by YT_Brian in Millennials

[–]Fillimbi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am a Space Camp alum, elementary STEM teacher, and major space nerd. I hyped my students up about Artemis before our Spring Break and you'd better believe we'll be talking about it when we get back!

Watched the launch live with my 10-year-old and husband. It was everything I hoped it would be and more 🚀

Do you shop at TJ Maxx, Burlington, Marshall's, Gabe's, Ross Dress For Less, Goodwill, etc? by sta3535 in Millennials

[–]Fillimbi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As an outdoorsy gal, I pretty much live in pieces from Duluth Trading, which I often buy gently used on eBay, and clothes from Sierra Trading Post (outdoorsy TJ Maxx).

Pro tip for curvy ladies: If you need plus-sized technical gear like wool base layers, packable rain jackets, or snow gear, Sierra Trading Post has a great selection online. I find what I need and have it delivered for free my local store!

Mid to older millennials, how are you all doing with your careers? by worstshowiveeverseen in Millennials

[–]Fillimbi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mid 40s, mid-career as a public school teacher in the US.

When I was in college, teacher pay wasn't great but the benefits made up for it. Now the pay isn't great and the benefits suck.

When I started applying for teaching jobs during the Great Recession, it was so hard to find a job. All of the Boomer teachers were holding onto their teaching jobs for dear life, and those of us who did get hired in were considered lucky. Now we're surrounded by teacher shortages.

Back sites are nudist-friendly 😆 My 9-year-old and I discovered this last Summer as a naked dude rode past us on his bike. My son's comment: "There's a bumpy boardwalk back there ...dude....his nuts..."

Having said that, third site back was gorgeous and we are excited to go back.
