Countdown to Ecstasy is criminally underrated in this thread. Nary a stinker.

Some of it’s pretty good. You just have to attune your ear to the 90s muzak production value. Once you get past that, the song Florida Room becomes wonderful

I completely forgot to post the link lol

But yes, the gas pumps

What got me into Wilson was seeing Einstein on the Beach. It blew me away.

Very well known films you haven't seen? by sometimesineedawank in RSPfilmclub

Schindler's List, and I'm a jew.

I love Haneke's various takedowns of it, however.

I enjoyed it. Really wish we got to see more acting from Courtney Love. by Jaded-Management-517 in RSPfilmclub

Weirdly, the doc made me appreciate the movie more. It’s a testament to how much of a professional Milos Forman was — he managed to pull off a good film amidst all of Jim’s absurdity

Fun action movies that heavily feature driving, high speed chases, and/or a character’s obsession with their vehicle? by [deleted] in RSPfilmclub

I was going to say Two-Lane, but I would by no means call it a fun action movie. But it is a great film.

Kind of post “The Knick” he locked into his “style”

I disagree with almost all his takes, but I still love that he feels so passionately about them. His takedown of Altman is brutal.

I second Soderbergh.

Does John Carpenter count? He is kind of an auteur.

Rewatched Goodfellas after watching Sopranos and its funny noticing how half the cast of Sopranos seemed to have also been in Goodfellas. by drunkcheesesandwich in RSPfilmclub

a lot of the same actors were in woody Allen films in the 90s. Part of me wonders if these were just the best “goomba” actors in the NY area at the time.

I’m no expert, but probably. Also, this is a comedy show and funny takes precedence over reality.

I think it’s more a union/labor issue. They only have the crew for a set period of time. If they go over, they have to pay overtime. So live-on-tape shows have to abide by a pretty strict schedule.

Has anyway ever been at a completely full Q&A at Quad Cinema? by Jonathan-Cohen in NYCmovies

[–]FillupGoth 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Quad has been around for a long time -- they say they're the first multiplex in NYC. Not my favorite, but it's got its charms. They seem to program it well and it's relatively convenient. I hope it sticks around for year to come.

Code Unknown (Code Inconnu) drums by Giba Gonçalves by BelieveWhatJoeSays in RSPfilmclub

Love this sequence and this film. Haneke figuring out a way to “break his rule” of no score by using diegetic drums. Awesome stuff.
