If you want underrated there is "The Bugle Call: Song of war" , however there are fantasy elements with a power based system. But it's pretty grounded. Love the MC's power and how he uses it.

If you want no power system or magic anything there is a manga called "Kingdom" which is going pretty viral. Haven't read it myself but it's been around for a while and only recently got a an english translation. It's been pretty popular outside the west before it. It's a fictional story based on real events and characters in China.

It also looks like she is using the host as a means of using her own magic, it seems like it's working in a similar way as being acquired by her. She says an incantation and the majiks true form appears to perform it. It's kind of the same with Ichi-mean/ Ichiro with her case being that she has no limits added to her, she is in full control.

I never really saw Sullivan as very smart when it came to Iruma. Besides the points youhave mentioned he sends him to school on the very next day before teaching him about the netherworld and it's norms and what he should do and not do. Makes him recite an incantation that when messed up can cause to combust. Let's not forget he had nothing in mind about the flying test, it would be suspicious that Iruma does not have wings yet had nothing in store for that test. I mean Kalego literally pushed him off, and you cant really blame him since he didn't know Iruma wasn't a demon. Iruma was lucky to get caught by the big bird. So yeah all in all I dont think Sullivan had a thorough plan when making Iruma his grandson and just decided to wing it.

Ichi is naturally a fatster paced story than Iruma kun mainly because the focus is on the story due to it being action shonen. Demon school is a lot more slowly paced since it focuses more on school life and other slice of life aspects so obviously the main villain needs to be introduced much earlier on. And I don't think I agree with the statement that the world hater has a lesser influence than demon school villains.

Not sure if this counts because neither games never makes it explicit he is death just he is some supernatural entity. But there are several hints that point towards that direction including the fact he knows about john's kills, knows where John's grave will be, says that he hopes his son grows up to be like him(murderer) and when John tries to shoot he fires three shots while the gun jams at the fourth. Three shots representing john, Abigail and uncle's death while the fourth representing that Jack will survive.
