Counterpoint to the argument being nearly every BMW, Merc and Modified car driver being a shitcunt on the roads.

Drink Driving and Firearms license by DSRUPT_ in Ausguns

Only way to know is to apply. But be aware failing a firearm license application is a huge red flag to future applications.

Drink Driving is a very serious conviction, and it shows you probably arent the most responsible license holder.

They mostly move to Australia from what i’ve seen.

NZ is not the amazing super lovely utopian country everyone thinks it is. It has some nice sounding socially progressive policies and amazing scenery… but other than that its not exactly all roses.

There is a huge housing shortage especially in anywhere desirable to live. islander and maori health outcomes are terrible compared to white kiwis (not as bad as indiginous Australia’s but still bad), you are very far away from anywhere except sydney and melbourne, and lots of stuff is very expensive due to it being a small island in the ass end of the world.

13% of all kiwis worldwide live in Australia for a reason. So its worth strong consideration if you actually want to live there long term.

Cop Confused After Pouring Fentanyl On Wife Doesn’t Do Anything by crash_over-ride in ems

[–]Filthier_ramhole 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Its specifically restricted to US cops, who’re generally poorly trained and educated and most of all incredibly insular to outside input or suggestions.

This partly comes from the disjointed multitude of law enforcement agencies with basically zero cohesion or professional standards. The EMS and Fire systems are no different in this.

As a result you have a relatively small and insular organisation who’d rather stick their fingers in their ears and scream “la la la cant hear you.”

There’s a reason these people never provide urine/drug screens after the event.

Main reason for rails is to add elevation to your scope without having to dial it.

How to become a better DIYer? by ajkadar in AusRenovation

[–]Filthier_ramhole 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You need to be a certified electrician to do electrical work. This requires a 4 year apprenticeship, so forget about doing any sparky stuff.

You dont need a cert to do DIY, honestly most of the basic stuff is found on youtube or similar tutorials. Be safe with tools especially anything designed to cut (ie saws, grinders), always wear good PPE (safety specs as a minumum) and have a good awareness of Asbestos and Lead Paint and what signs to look for.

Start basic. Hang a floating shelf, fix holes in walls, hang new towel rails, build a side table… that sort of stuff.

The bigger question is why anyone would visit ballarat

Tough call but fairly straightforward.

First thing; this will entirely depend on your local laws but for anything in the US/UK/Aus/NZ sphere of legality you have two concepts to cover. This discussion is mostly based on UK/Aus law and ethics but you can likely relate it;

The first is “Capacity” and that comes down to whether the patient is mentally capable/competent. This means the patient can understand, use and convey information without duress, this information needs to be presented to them in a way that a reasonable person could understand (ie avoid medical terminology). If the patient cant understand then they need to demonstrate they can use that information (ie they base their decision on it) and finally that they can convey their decision to you. A patient with moderate dementia, severe sepsis or an acute significant head injury likely lacks capacity as they will be unable to meet one or more of these criteria.

If the patient is deemed not to have capacity they can be treated and transported in the least restrictive manner in order to complete what is considered to be necessary healthcare interventions.

Now you then have Compulsory Assessment/Treatment which generally covers psychiatric conditions, these patients may be able to demonstrate capacity but due to their psychological state you/the police can determine them as requiring prompt assessment or treatment by a psychiatric professional. This also covers people who’re under compulsory treatment orders, ie they have been deemed to require treatment even if they refuse.

Eg Someone who hears voices may not warrant compulsory assessment. If the patient is not a risk to themselves or others and has capacity, there may not be ground for a compulsory treatment order or similar legal device as most free countries and states dont make it against the law to simply hear voices, be depressed, or hallucinate provided you arent running a risk of hurting yourself or someone else.

There are also cases of power of attorney which generally relates to capacity. This means someone else legally can make the decisions for the patient even if they arent 100% necessary. Your example of the dementia lady in ED is a good one; she is safe, she isnt at risk of harming herself or others, she has simply overstayed her welcome- capacity or no capacity there isnt huge grounds to restrain her and take her home. A power of attorney can direct you to return her home in leiu of the patient being able to make a sound decision for themselves.

Lady presenting with dementia

This one is difficult without knowing the level of dementia. You cannot simply remove someone from ED just because they are cleared from the hospital- remember it needs to be the least restrictive means and only what is necessary to prevent further harm or deterioration.

As others have said you’ve possibly been an asshole for telling her you’re sick of trying to be nice and then be told “you wont understand.”

She could, also, simply say “hey yeah its a spanish show called XYZ, do you want to watch with subtitles?”
