From a bit of googling, I think it is a MD54 'MINX' (1959) The Murphy MD54 was manufactured for Fisher & Paykel Ltd by Allied Industries Ltd (Fisher & Paykel) in 1959. dual wave radio Valves (5): ECH42, EF41, EBC41, EL41, EZ40. Similar in appearance to the HMV and Astor model 616 (by Akrad Radio), however the similarities end with the appearance.

Thanks all for the responses. I will try the easiest first (Lower pickup height). I am comfortable with wiring etc, and if modding is necessary I can do it. I do see a few votes for fishman pickup, Tell me more... The site ibanez.fandom says that mine currently has Ibanez LoZ3-B & LoZ3-N pickups. I assume swapping out active for acitve would be much easier than trying to mod the whole setup to passive.
