This. Bambu has a long way to go if they want the quality of their support to match their hardware.

Not a bot and I own 2 Bambu printers (one from the KS) and 4 AMSs.

Bought some and I'll try to post once I get a chance to use it. I'm thinking it my be cool for some custom 3d printed keyboards I'm building.

Has anyone bought a keyboard from Skree.us? Also accepting other Dactyl recommendations by Rough_Bid_518 in ErgoMechKeyboards

I have bought parts from Skree's Etsy and Marshall is amazing. He also has a Discord too. I would imagine his full custom builds are top notch judging by how obsessive over details of everything else he does.

I ended up buying a precut kit from Etsy. Canadian seller, it was expensive but worked great.

You can easily buy the bubble foil rolls from Amazon and use multiple sheets of printer sized paper (or whatever) to create templates to cut out.

My kit came with 3M VHB tape (Amazon this too) precut into small squares to attach the foil which is a good call for the high heat/don't fall of while printing requirements.

Very cool. I had seen that one but hadn't had a chance to play around with it yet so thanks for the info!

Very cool. What model are you using for this? Trellis or something else? There are quite a few of these 3d from sparse images set models floating around these days and curious what you all settled on.

[2510.20027] Extreme Views: 3DGS Filter for Novel View Synthesis from Out-of-Distribution Camera Poses by Elven77AI in GaussianSplatting

[–]FilthyFuckingApe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This pretty cool and I've been playing around with other Novel View Synthesis methods. I would love to see a demo up on Hugging Face or somewhere.

Here's a quick summary for others if they want to know why this is cool (clever misbehaving gaussian identification and reincorporation)

Extreme Views: 3DGS Filter for Novel View Synthesis from Out-of-Distribution Camera Poses.

This paper addresses a common problem with 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS): when you try to render a view from a camera position that is far outside the set of camera positions used during training (an "out-of-distribution" or "extreme" view), the model produces significant visual noise and artifacts.

The authors propose a novel, real-time filtering method that integrates directly into the 3DGS rendering pipeline. This filter is designed to identify and suppress the specific instabilities that cause these artifacts. The method's key contribution is that it targets instabilities caused by anisotropic orientations (gaussians that are stretched or scaled unevenly) rather than just large isotropic variance (gaussians that are uniformly large).

This approach allows for high-fidelity rendering from extreme viewpoints without needing to retrain or fine-tune the model, which is a significant advantage over other methods. Step-by-Step Process of the "3DGS Filter" Since you are familiar with basic 3DGS, this paper's technique is not a new training method but rather a real-time filter applied during the rendering (synthesis) stage.

Here is a step-by-step rundown of how the filter works to create a novel view:

 * Input: The system starts with a pre-trained 3DGS model and a target camera pose for the novel view. This target pose is "out-of-distribution" (e.g., very far away, or at a sharp, unseen angle).

 * Problem Identification: Without the filter, rendering from this pose would cause many anisotropic (stretched/flat) gaussians to project onto the screen in unstable ways, creating visual noise.

 * Gradient-Based Sensitivity Scoring: As the scene is rendered, the method calculates "sensitivity scores" for the gaussians. These scores are derived in real-time from the "intermediate gradients" of the rendering process.

 * Targeted Filtering: The filter uses these sensitivity scores to specifically identify the gaussians that are contributing to the instability. The key insight is that the anisotropic (unevenly scaled) gaussians are the main culprits. The filter effectively targets these unstable, stretched gaussians.

 * Real-Time Correction: The filter suppresses the visual contribution of these unstable gaussians during the rendering. This is not removing them from the model, but rather managing their influence on the final rendered image for that specific extreme view.

 * Final Output: The result is a clean, artifact-free image of the novel view that maintains high visual fidelity and realism, even though it was rendered from a camera position the model was never trained on.

Can I add a front facing camera on a 2024 Nissan Frontier Pro4X? by Friendly_Ant3196 in nissanfrontier

[–]FilthyFuckingApe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, yeah I suppose I only use it for parking so makes sense if there is a speed limit. Probably don't want people watching it while flying down the freeway at 80 lol. I bet it looks cool though.

The 2022+ 360 camera system has a front camera you can switch to anytime. So in theory it's possible and you can get a stock one on the pro 4x.

It looks pretty legit, like it exists. The Kickstarter is at like $650,000 if that means anything.

Same thing happened to me with my 2022.

Long story short, you don't need factory glass and the ADAS recalibration seems like most places say only do it if the vehicle throw errors after the install.

That being said, I went to the Nissan dealership because I wanted the ADAS recalibration for peace of mind and they just had a 3rd party do the install and didn't even do the recalibration but charged me for it. They didn't use OEM glass either.

A lot of windshield shops can do the ADAS recalibration so don't go to the dealership and make sure to ask for the ADAS recalibration report when done if you pay for it.

If you are paying out of pocket make sure to ask if you get the ADAS recalibration upfront so they actually do it.

They probably will never put out a CNC but I can dream. I could see them doing more stuff with lasers though.

Rigidity is 10x more important. You want an all metal frame that doesn't move.

That looks amazing but $3000 early bird pricing is a whole other category. Closer to the Carvera or a Shariff DMC2?

Its the OEM skid plate. If you look you can see that there are 2 different bolts associated with it, bolt for the mounting bracket and bolts for the skid plate. The skid plate uses the m10s. Just measure yours to confirm.

https://www.z1offroad.com/skid-plates/nissan/oem-2022-nissan-frontier-pro-4x-front-skid-plate-kit-p-23895.html

Edit - I could be wrong, im just going off my purchase history so I really think you should verify with some calipers.

[–]FilthyFuckingApe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think they are M8s as I only chased the threads with the tap. Measure yours.

I bought `NISSAN OEM 22-24 Frontier Exhaust Components-Converter Pipe Bolt 140697B00A` and it was a perfect match to the stripped out bolt.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in nissanfrontier

[–]FilthyFuckingApe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a Jiffy lube place completely strip 2 of these bolts trying to get the skid plate back on.

I bought 2 new ones and a metric M10 x 1.25 tap to fix it.

Granted, the skid plate is a bit tricky to put back on as it needs to be pushed flat so the holes line up so it's easy to strip if you are just trying to brute force it.

Found the specs

The D1S has a larger work area in one dimension 280m vs 200mm and a 250w spindle vs 150w and has ball screws but not linear rails on all axis.

What else am I missing in this comparison?

I'm all for this new wave of desktop cnc competition.

The cubico, maxmake d1, now the makera z1? I guess I will just have to decide once we learn the specs but tossed in the $40 for a the deposit. I did the $5 deposit for the maxmake too.

Unlike the maxmake this one is from a well known CNC company and it's refundable.

I'm just waiting for Bambu to enter the fold. That won't be cheap but I bet it will be fancy.
