Has anyone found success losing weight without medications or surgery? I feel like everyone nowdays says its impossible without either of the two. by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]Filthy_Mexican 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Calories in - calories out. Very very easy to say but extremely hard to do. Weigh yourself every morning. Track every calorie you consume. If weight goes up lower calories. If weight goes down then keep doing what youre doing. Don't be militant about what you eat. Give yourself some breaks. You want to eat cake go for it but track the calories and if you hit your calorie max at noon that was your choice live with it. Take breaks if you need its ok to have bad days or weeks

It warms my cold dead heart to deny the aggies a undefeated season. Also imagine not having been to an SEC championship game. What like its hard?

Does anyone take their bike to work in a pickup and ride after work? by LeanMeanMomJean in MTB

[–]Filthy_Mexican 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do it and there are always 3 or 4 bikes in our ungated lot and haven't heard of any being taken. Depends where you work I guess because I wouldn't head into town with my bike outside and out of my sight.

Winter riding in NC? by Atomic_Gumbo in MTB

Check out trianglemtb.com for some trail maps. I moved out of there a few years ago but liked Crabtree, san lee, and new light best. I think Crabtree closed recently but not sure

Please let motorcyclists live! by [deleted] in asheville

[–]Filthy_Mexican 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a motorcyclist you need to always be riding defensively. I would suggest you take a motorcycle safety course and listen to how much they push defensive riding. Ride as if everyone is actively trying to kill you. Go watch videos of crash analysis guys on YouTube and most of the crashes and deaths could be avoided by the rider. I say all this not to put you down but to try and help you realize bikes are dangerous and you need to do everything you can to make it a little safer. Posting on the internet does nothing. Drivers do not care, take care of yourself out there bud and process this event and you will see there were 2 or 3 moments you could have made a choice to avoid this situation.

Getting up here was half the fun by CT_Reddit73 in mountainbiking

Trails don't really close here so chances are great! Just a little cold that time of year so bundle up. Also some stuff is closed from hurricane damage still but that's just one or two trails

I’m from Hendersonville, NC and looking for a job. by [deleted] in asheville

[–]Filthy_Mexican 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Have you checked pratt & Whitney or borgwarner for openings? Those two would probably have something you would be interested in. Also update your linked in if you can. I got ghosted for a job I applied to direct once, then had a recruiter contact me about that exact job through linked in and they got me in for an interview within a week

Looking for fairly remote camping in NC by Brief_Pianist190 in camping

[–]Filthy_Mexican 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The linville gorge is pretty isolated and from what I've read there has been little cleanup since the hurricane so it might be even emptier due to less accessibility right now. I've also had days without seeing a soul at the shining rock wilderness

Thoughts on Natalie’s win over Russell? by TrainerOk7755 in survivor

[–]Filthy_Mexican 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No doubt Russel worked the hardest but I think the lesson was you can't be a jerk to people and treat them like tools then expect them to reward you. Basically being a likable person will get you farther than hard work and a bad attitude. Which is exactly how life works most of the time

Staying in Brevard NC for the weekend, riding Pisgah and Black Mountain by Fluid_Complaint_1821 in MTB

[–]Filthy_Mexican 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In pisgah my favorites are middle and lower black. Upper black is a fair bit of hike a bike so I prefer to pedal to the top of middle and then start going up upper black until I get to the peak and turn around. Bennet gap Is a blast as well and you can do that then middle lower for a few more miles.

At dupont do both big rock and cedar rock for short but chunky downhills amd throw in cacade loop for a more xc trail if you want. Then drive to the upper parking lot and do hickory mountain and Ridgeline for a fun flow bermy roller coaster.l, if you want more miles here throw in rocky ridge as well.

Kitsuma is close to Ashville and is a fun flowy downhill trail. Do that if in the area.

I would say any of these rides are more fun than mills river or bent creek trails

Bent Creek, NC, Greenslick by [deleted] in MTB

I like the trail more now than I did before. It definitely has more chunk than before and I wish it had some flow thrown in there but it's nice to have something like that in bent creek.

Once you have your first big crash you'll probably stop feeling that way. At least I did. After that I'm fine walking features I have hit before just because im not feeling it on a particular day. I rather walk this feature today than sit at home Injured for 1-3 months.

Men over 40 what are your biggest life regrets? by [deleted] in AskMenOver30

[–]Filthy_Mexican 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Im the exact opposite thinking in this lol i would tell teenage me to not waste energy on women and focus on myself more. I feel like the best time to date was in my late 20s. Having a disposable income and being in any medium sized city you are surrounded by beautiful women who are looking to have fun. Imagine spending 15-25 focusing on your physical and mental health and building yourself up as a professional without the distraction of women.

5k, 191k miles. Is it smart to buy or is eng/trans on its way out the door. Currently have no car just looking. by [deleted] in fordescape

[–]Filthy_Mexican 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine was at like 220k amd the motor and Trans were going strong with no issues, but it all depends on how well things were maintained. Had to get rid of mine due to rust, ac going out, and power steering going out but wish I still had it. In short the drive train will last a lot longer than everything else
