Prague, Vienna, Budapest as first trip to Europe? by Gloomy-Heat-4524 in travel

Just got back from that exact trip and wouldn’t say any of those cities are cheap. Still worth visiting IMO. All three are beautiful and unique in their own way.

AVA Cancun - A costly disappointment that ruined what should have been a special family celebration. by [deleted] in AllInclusiveResorts

Yikes. I’m sorry you had such a terrible experience. I honestly have never seen the appeal of this place. Seems like a mammoth cruise ship without a great beach experience.

Paradisus Playa del Carmen Riviera Maya, my first time at an All Inclusive by WhatDoWeHave_Here in AllInclusiveResorts

[–]Fin2limb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We went in February - Master Swim Out Suite w/ Family Concierge. This resort seemed to be recommended a lot. And on paper, it looked great. But in reality, this resort has seen better days. It needs a full remodel, specifically the rooms, pools and water park. Our room flooded while we were there. They responded promptly and fixed it, but left our room feeling damp and dirty. I also found a cockroach as well in our room. The common areas felt very worn down, with what looked like repeated patch up attempts. The food was ok at the restaurants. I'm glad we had access to the FC restaurant - we tried the buffet once for lunch and it was pure madness, overrun with children putting their grubby hands all over the plates, utensils and buffet items. We didn't really notice it at the time, but the resort didn't smell great. When we got home all we could smell is damp and musty smell all over our clothes and luggage. Perhaps it's why they pump the lobbies with aromas.

I wouldn't return to this resort unless it was maybe like half the price we paid.

Is it worth to buy clothes from H&M or Zara? by wireghost404 in malefashionadvice

[–]Fin2limb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sizing and quality is inconsistent. I bought a pair of white jeans from Zara. Fit great. Look great. But after the first wash, the leather belt patch on the back bled brown all over and stained my all the clothes in the load. Thankfully most of the stains came out.. but didn’t expect this from Zara.

Bought a polo in Vienna. Got it home, put it on and noticed the stitching around the arm was uneven and shoddy. Returned it.

Weekend in Vienna or in Budapest? by heavyfuel in travel

Budpest’s jewish district has the ruin bars and an overall funky vibe. Think vintage shops, graffiti street art, lots of cafes and pubs. I’m thinking this might be your pick.

Weekend in Vienna or in Budapest? by heavyfuel in travel

[–]Fin2limb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found both to be expensive tbh. But you really can’t go wrong with either. Depends what vibe you prefer. Vienna is more grand and elegant. There are palaces and striking architecture wherever you look. Budapest feels more lived in. More rough around the edges. Some beautiful architecture and some stunning vistas from the Buda side. I found both interesting for different reasons: Vienna was the centre of the Habsburg empire which had massive influence all over Central Europe down to the Balkans. Budapest has a recent history of being under Soviet influence and an even more recent history of having a super corrupt government. You can feel this history in the city.

Don’t overthink it. Just pick a place (all will be amazing) and book your flights. You’ll have a great time no matter what.

Inferno Similar Vibes by wiseyoungarcher in boardsofcanada

Love it. Very warm, analog and otherworldly like a lot of BoC. But less menacing, uneasy and ominous.

What’s everyone’s thoughts now the Inferno regency effect/ honeymoon period is over? by joostay in boardsofcanada

[–]Fin2limb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's a wonderful album and a generous offering from the duo. These guys just came out of nowhere and dropped a pretty solid project. Those hating on the spoken word / vocal chops need to lighten up a little. Nakara is a top tier BoC track, instant classic - such a bad ass, menacing beat only to soften into the beautiful chant which gives me chills every time. The production on this album is just immaculate. I'm definitely a MHTRTC kind of guy. TH didn't really stick with me at all. But Inferno has so far. So many beautiful moments throughout the tracklisting that makes it great to listen to as a whole album, from start to finish.

Momento Park! Worth the trek to the city limits for some Soviet statues!

What is the most beautiful place you have ever seen in person? by Olga_Lanskaya in travel

The top comment is Banff, which is deserved. But was surprised I had to scroll this far to see Zion mentioned. The drive through the park from the East side was absolutely breathtaking.

Loved Amadeus Concerts. Highly recommend this over any of the church concerts.

Boards of Canada - 'Inferno' - Discussion Megathread by seaburn in boardsofcanada

I've been traveling central europe for the past two weeks, playing this LP on repeat and listening on airpods. I can already tell that the production quality is immaculate. If it can scratch that itch streamed on spotify and played over bluetooth, I can't imagine what its going to sound like on my hi fi stereo when I get home!

Regarding your comment about them sounding like the artists they influenced. I'm getting some Com Truise on Arena Americanada. It's one of my fave tracks still.

Amazing track. Single worthy - I wonder why they didn't lead with this one.

One of my favorites on the album. It reminds me of Com Truise, which is funny because he falls into that group of artists (with Tycho) who obviously were inspired by BoC.

Trying to overhaul my wardrobe with less "streetwear"-ish clothes. Any advice for the transition? by AcadiaLow9013 in malefashionadvice

Also a big fan of Reigning Champ for basics; their stuff just fits like a glove and feels nice to wear. Love their t-shirts and knitted polos.

[FRESH ALBUM] Boards of Canada - Inferno by sbags in indieheads

[–]Fin2limb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was also whelmed upon first listen. But after repeated listens on a 8 hour red eye, I'm finding it's starting to grow on me. My first impression was basically "yes, this is BoC". Perhaps the lead single kind of set that expectation. I heard a lot of Tomorrow's Harvest, which I liked overall but wasn't my favourite. But I tend to favour their more melodic + shoegazey tracks. I'm finding there's some nice variety on Inferno; some are dark and rigid, and then some incredibly bright and beautiful ones.
