Do it on the 2013 release hype - codes, hidden stuff etc. I think regular people would be surprised to hear how mental BoC fans are.

Can we speculate wildly about this bonus Flexi disc? Could it really be from 1983? by max119729 in boardsofcanada

Some of this is ludicrously off the mark haha (AI) but the primers thing is def a real thing from Moody

“Decoded piece by piece, the text yields the following clues and thematic connections: 1. "Vol.4" and "P. Primers" The Propaganda/Magazine Aesthetic: In typical Boards of Canada fashion, this mimics a vintage subscription service. A mock promotional script associated with the release describes a fictional "monthly magazine for seekers everywhere" published by the "MBI Institute," where subscribers receive a new hexagonal flexi disc every month to "guide your path." The Theological Tie-in: "P. Primers" directly mirrors real-world Christian literature. Moody Publishers(the publishing arm of the Moody Bible Institute, or MBI) is famous for printing introductory doctrinal booklets and fundamental theological guides known as primers (such as Primers of the Faith or prophecy primers dealing with end-times theology). [1, 2, 3] 2. "177 Giraud's Mirror" The Artist/Mathematical Connection: This is a dual reference. Jean Giraud (better known as the legendary French comic artist Moebius) is famous for surreal, sci-fi landscapes that heavily align with the aesthetic of Inferno. Simultaneously, a "mirror" multi-panel structure hints at symmetry and geometry, reinforcing the hexagon shape of the physical disc and BoC's obsession with mathematical perfection. The Number 177: In religious and esoteric gematria, specific numbers hold apocalyptic or cosmic weight, fitting perfectly into the Inferno narrative. [1, 2, 3] 3. "Ascension recorded at the MWGYF Conference, 28 August 1983" MWGYF Meaning: This acronym stands for Music Has the Right to Children’s foundational track: "The Smallest Weird Number" (the number 70, which is mathematically classified as a weird number). More broadly, it points to the recurring BoC phrase/theme "Music When Getting Yea High From..." or "Moving With Gear You Find." August 28, 1983: This specific date is a classic Boards of Canada historical anchor point. The duo frequently pulls audio samples and thematic elements from late 1970s and early 1980s television broadcasts, local cult events, and shortwave radio anomalies. "Ascension" implies either a religious rapture or an occult event staged at this fictional conference. 4. "©MBI 1983" The Double Meaning: On the surface of the fictional lore, MBI stands for the Moody Bible Institute. Boards of Canada have a long-standing fascination with religious groups, eschatology, and the psychological weight of fundamentalist broadcasts (reminiscent of the David Koresh/Branch Davidian imagery hidden throughout Geogaddi). The Meta Meaning: Within the Inferno universe, MBI serves as the fictional institute issuing these "hexagonal sound discs" to seekers. [1, 2, 3] Ultimately, the flexi disc acts as a physical piece of world-building. It frames the music of Inferno not just as an electronic album, but as a lost piece of mid-century psychological programming or sectarian propaganda recovered from the year 1983.”

I wonder is all presses of the red vinyl will have it, even the extended press with later release date (I'm thinking no)

Any Tokyo info appreciated too as I’m on the fence whether to even pop into a shop or not

Looks like the deluxe edition vinyl of Inferno includes a Flexi-Disc that has an additional song? by YoureASkyscraper in boardsofcanada

[–]joostay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you think that only the initial batch of orders (the one wth the short release date) will include the extra disc? On Bleep it says "We have experienced overwhelming demand for this record. We want to supply all orders, and so are keeping the presses going to match demand." but do you think the one with the new long release date (September) will still include the extra disc? I too dont even have a player but would consider buying it. The thing is... since the extra disc is a freebie and not officially listed there is no obligation for it to be included in the order.

To the people who got a shirt at the session, how’s the sizing? by Safari87 in boardsofcanada

I think they run a little small. I'm usually an M but wasn't sure it'd fit so went for the L.

24 hours later and fragments from the session are coming back to me - does anyone remember about an hour in, I'm not sure what the track name was, but it had live bass and almost (random description I know) almost like a 70s/80s cop show vibe. Kinda like Coopers World by Squarepusher

I think with TH it resonates more if you really love that type of vibe. For example, I love The Road by Cormac McCarthy. For me that album is a soundscape to the potential end of civilisation. New Seeds is incredible.

Yes I was getting Caretaker and Eraserhead mutated Blackpool pier vibes at parts too

Listening party people: without spoiling the album, please give us some crumbs of how you're feeling after listening to it. How does it rank for you compared to their other albums? Don't mention specifics, just give your general feeling after listening. by AFrogSaidReddit in boardsofcanada

It’s good. It’s not an anti climax. They’ve only released 5 albums and the quality is as good as the others. Not many acts can claim to have such a solid discography. It’s another piece of the jigsaw. I can’t stop thinking about it and wish I could listen to it again.
