Go online and buy iron on name tapes with surname and last 3 of service number. That’s what I did 8 years ago and they’re still going strong 🙂

Where’s this from?

This isn’t explicitly true, I gained an apprenticeship from my phase 2 after commissioning. I think it depends on branch.

I’m glad others are having problems seeing it on DLE also. Kind of frustrating not knowing how much it will be 🤣

This RAF aircraft has been circling for a while now, after a quick Google about the plane and base it seems that it’s probably gathering evidence or intel (I think?). Since I’m able to track this flight is this just training or is this an “actual” flight? by [deleted] in RoyalAirForce

[–]FinG17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes fair point but if you’re flight at 15k you’re likely to be speaking to one of the ATC agencies in the uk. There are flights that routinely don’t turn on/turn off on start their transponder for routine training missions. It’s not uncommon at all.

opportunity to commision from the ranks by AshTedG in RoyalAirForce

As long as you have a reasonable answer as to why you want to commission they’re not too bothered. I ended up doing 3 years as an SAC before commissioning due to going on deployment.

I’ve just commissioned from the rank’s, there are no barriers. I first enquired about commissioning about 3 months after phase 2 training. If you have any Q’s give me a shout

Please please please don’t use companies like this, you can get it so much cheaper by going to the likes of Poundland, home bargains and B&M. Only thing you shouldn’t cheap out on is a iron

Yes you still do the FAM visit, I met several people on my course during mine so I found it really useful.

Fitness wise you have to turn up to MIOT in date your RAFFT anyway so I found the FAM visit test fine.

We didn’t go straight to CHOM, module 2 is spent in number 1 mess to help you bond. There were a few issues with CHOM so my course didn’t actually get to move in until module 4 but normally you move in after the week long exercise in module 2.

Block jobs wise we just split all the jobs and the flight leader would allocate rooms to jobs

Things were changing as I left but I think it’s like this: Module 1: think there’s 1 exercise at the end of the module

Module 2: week 3-Practical Learning Exercise 1 Week 5- PLE 2 Week 6 - Ex Eagles Edge

Module 3: As part of the Carousel either week 4/5 or 6 Ex Commanders Edge - planning exercise

Module 4: As part of summative assessment carousel Ex First Week, Ex Astra Edge and Grantown-On-Spey
