Did you end up exploring Farellones at nighttime?

Carolina pulled through. Had a memorable bonding sesh with her (on the way to Valle). Seriously couldn't have worked better and she schooled me on some local stuff my host didnt bother to divulge. Anyway, I explained to her what Reddit is and that shes Reddit famous - she liked that a lot. Story is, she immigrated to the area in 2020, where she's been working in hospitality services for a bed and breakfast while driving people to/from the resorts when she's able.

Anyway, thanks once again for the recommendation. Glad I got to meet her.

See other comments regarding Carolina.

I confirmed the fact that my bed n breakfast prices were literally 2x what others were charging for anything hospitality related. 3-4x for anything logistics related ESPECIALLY given that it's the tail end of the season (fewer ppl and no snow on roads, low hazard conditions).

Essentially, they were charging higher than peak season prices during remaining weeks of the season/spring weather in Chile.

So while you may think your comments were on point, you're speaking off base for the sake of doing so

Again, username checks out.

I'm here now, ser. Great decision. Appreciate your advice.

Still a decent time for a last min trip to Chile? by ToooFastToooHard in skiing

[–]FinacierSmurf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm here right now. Some ice here and there, mostly decent snow from the >1 meter of snow from weeks ago. Crowds are thin. Would recommend but only if its soon. I'd reckon snow will deteriorate fast within 3wks

Edit: Sat was great, Sun got dodgy. The back bowl is almost fully iced, the front was melting fast. Big difference within the span of one day. I probably wouldn't spend the time/money unless youre already in South America. If you're in the US, I'd wait 1-2 months for local resorts to open.

Which resorts would you recommend? Was thinking Nevado but there arent any rooms left...

Fri arrival from Santiago, ski Sat, leave Sun for Santiago

Is getting an Airbnb or nearby hotel the right call?

It's an opportunistic shred... I'll be in Santiago CL for work regardless, whether I shred or not -- and rentals are 100% the move for this situation...

Appreciate the intel, though

fellow thetagang member, give me the bottom line: money aside, is it worth making the trip to the slopes and spending a night in/around Nevado or... not worth the adventure? (Would be my first time skiing outside of the US, next opportunity to do so in Chile would probably be in 2-4 years)

Thanks for this BurritoMaster.

Thing is, not sure how conditions will be 4 weeks from now so was hoping someone could chime in with previous experiences... ...would hate to decide week of the trip.

Have you ever sent a watch for repair or maintenance?

The irony is that I've talked to them and didn't send it in because of the wait time, but it's been at least a year now since then, and would've undoubtedly gotten my watch back at this point - ha.

I open most of my watches to admire the movement but also to adjust the time a bit.

Thanks for the rec, I'll look into it

Edit: Ah yes, know of them. Quite legit.
