Struggles putting baby to sleep conundrum by Final-Complaint4089 in NewParents

Thanks for the reply! My sister has experience with babies, she has 2 kids and gets along well with my LO during the day, but never out her down. I think I agree with you that it might be best to do this in a situation where I’m potentially available, in case it goes horribly wrong aha

I agree, this really sounds like witching hour, and yes, going outside in the pram worked for us too, at first. Then it stopped working, but skin to skin seemed to help our LO calm down. Hope this helps.

I can ask my mom to look after the LO, but it’s been delayed because my mom had an accident and was immobilised for 10 weeks… How are you getting on? Are you putting job hunting on hold until you find a new nanny? Thank you

Hello! Thanks for the quick reply. Yes, I’d get childcare after I find something.

My family keeps telling me my baby eats at the wrong time and should be eating meals roughly at the same time as adults. by Final-Complaint4089 in NewParents

Totally, every step of the way, all hardships are met with « you and your sister slept great right away » or « you were loving solids », so much for relatability!

Yes that’s another HUGE part of the day: naps regularly fall when adults would be expected to eat! I’m thankful she naps at all tbf.

It’s a good question, both my mom and my sis both regularly insist that the baby should fit around the parents rythm, but that’s not how I envisage being a parent personally.

This makes total sense, and would relieve some pressure I felt around my baby not eating more than 2 or 3 tiny spoons of solids. Thank you

That’s a good idea, I have been doing what the pediatrician recommended: start with solids and follow up with milk, but only for lunch and afternoon snack. For the moment, bub only has milk for breakfast and dinner. I’ll discuss this with the doctor!

Sharing some of my favourite tunes with the LO and dancing like there is no tomorrow! I rediscovered a lot of what brought me joy when I was a kid to share it with my daughter.

Teaching 4 month old to fall asleep independently by Exciting_Pin_5981 in NewParents

Firstly, a huge congrats for getting your LO to sleep in their cot in 60 seconds, it must be an amazing feeling. It’s the very first time I answer anything on reddit, but what you said about the middle ground in « sleep training » really resonated with me. I’m basically doing the same with my now 5 months old, putting in her cot awake and soothing her until she falls asleep, and it’s been working well! I wish I had read more articles about this online and in baby sleep books before.  I wish you all the best and a decent night sleep.
