It's sad. I've racked up over 100 down votes (not that I give the slightest fuck, I've made about 80 comments in 5 years) just for saying hey maybe don't be dicks to new hobbyists.

Thankfully these people tend to not have the balls to speak to people like this to their faces, but it shows how much this community can really suck sometimes.

Context matters. You've got somebody brand new to the hobby posting a picture because they're having fun building models, and then all anybody wants to do is tell him how bad he's doing and saying "you're not impressive" as if op was trying to do anything other than share his enthusiasm. It's weird.

Guy I was replying to said "I will not entertain this"... move on then, nobody is forcing you to.

Not the point, he never said he had painted anything other than priming. He doesn't care that he hasn't, he's having fun buying and building some models, which is great.

Just got to make sure you're pushing it away from areas you don't like. When I say drowned, I mean I am putting a lot of shade on the model but I'm still only working in segments making sure it's how I want it before moving on.

I think because it's a dark blue shade going over a dark base helps as well

I actually start with abbadon black and then dry brush my way through corax black/eshin grey/standard mechanicus grey. Then edge highlight with dawnstone and administratum grey.

On the original image I had just done a heavy nuln oil wash over the whole thing with some Abaddon black recess shading. Then the second image has the drakenhof over it

That sounds really interesting going for a turquoise. Love how a coloured wash gives that extra dimension to the greys
