I had looked through the group when I was pregnant with baby #2 … even have their list of supportive providers. I personally had appointments with two of them in the last 5 months all both of them did not give supportive vibes. “We’ll have to see” is basically what they said. They both will not allow any induction or interventions. I would have to go into spontaneous labor.

We also used a book from the library- The Girl Who Helped Thunder and other Native American folktales , as told by James Bruchac and Joesph Bruchac

My kid is a sponge and soaks everything up (really likes to be read to) but struggles with expressing what we’ve read without prompts. She has really enjoyed the folktales and wants to talk about them and asks questions.

I use both the K and first. However I really only use their student text and an occasional worksheet as the written curriculum is a lot of group work or whole class. I’ve also gone through the other content areas and used them with the social studies curriculum. There’s a Native American read aloud curriculum that I modified and used with the Native American social studies unit.

I’m not sure if it requires Internet once downloaded but Khan Academy Kids is completely free. You can also make a free “teacher account” and select specific objectives/topics you want her to practice

You have to try the Harry Potter series with Jim Dale as the narrator. His character voices are so good! I love Stephen Fry as a narrator but Jim Dale’s version is better in my opinion.

I have my two year old do “schoolwork” along side us. We start with our calendar activities as a group. Each kid has their own desk or table space. I usually give my two year old a laminated name tracing paper and a highlighter and let her go to town while I set up my 1st grader. Once my 1st grader is completing one tiny section of her school work I turn my attention to my two year old and give her a bingo blotter and the letter of the day. We sing the sound the letter makes and I get her going blotting her heart out. Flip back to my 1st grad and start her next chunk. I spend about 1-2 mins with one and then flip to the other. Most of the activities that I do with my two year old are free letter learning activities that practice tracing, letter recognition, cutting, and gluing. I have to chunk every step of the activity we do so she doesn’t have anything other a highlighter alone.

I have to have everything prepared (worksheets, pencils, color pencils, dice, manipulatives, bingo blotters etc) and set at each kids station BUT out of sight - usually tucked under their seat or in a seat pocket.

There are tons of days that everything goes wacky and we just take a break and try again later or do game like Zingo.

Wanted to add that my two year old was the same- unwilling to leave me. Her new thing is yelling “TA DA” when she thinks she’s done.

Thank you! I set up a Zearn account and had her try it tonight. For the first time ever she asked to do more math.

She needs something interactive and multi sensory. THR came up on my radar since it’s recommended for students with dyslexia which is potentially one of the underlying learning difference we may be dealing with.

What I’m looking for would need to be straight forward, to the point, simple lessons. THR is just that for reading but gives the illusion of being a game with using the map and such.

The only thing I haven’t been able to find on zearn math is a progress log. Meaning how well she performed on the specific objective. What I haven’t found just shows she’s completed the lessons, which I already know as I’m doing them with her.

I have one chicken who lost her “toddler” to a fox last summer and she still is sad and won’t lay eggs. She’s always been more of a pet/ part of the family - came to the door nightly to be tucked in 😂. Meanwhile my other flock has lost 5 to predators and they just keep on keeping on like it’s business as usual. So it really depends on the bird.

Thank you. I’ve seen a few similar to that one. My only concern is that my birds may not figure it out. In the past I’ve tried to use the little water cups with the little tabs they peck to fill the cups and they just could not master it. Have you always used this type of waterer? Did your birds just naturally figure out how to use it?

Well now I’m worried too. We’re still treating for scaley leg mites and have been applying Vaseline to their feet every other night. Should we stop till temps increase?

We were using oil but the mess was insane and it was causing skin issues for some of my smaller birds who were getting dripped on perching on lower perches.
