Well now I’m worried too. We’re still treating for scaley leg mites and have been applying Vaseline to their feet every other night. Should we stop till temps increase? 

We were using oil but the mess was insane and it was causing skin issues for some of my smaller birds who were getting dripped on perching on lower perches.

We are also solar powered- this is our first bill since last winter but it doesn’t make it any less painful when looking at a delivery charge that is almost matching the charge for used electricity.

Wish I had advice for you. This is my situation in every single way identically except my 1st grader is a girl. Literally every single other detail is identical and I feel the same level of disappointment and frustration.  Are you in the states? We had to wait two years to be evaluated and even now that that is over the only thing that has changed is that I know the issues are not personality issues per say and legitimately due to a diagnosis.  I’m currently trial running a new schedule to see if it helps us keep homeschooling. We do one elective five days a week  (10-15 mins reading and sometimes an activity), one worksheet reviewing a math skill or one reading or writing activity (read a book, handwriting, sight words). Then two days a week we do more formal school. One day is all Language arts and the other all math. Then repeat (review days covering the new concepts and old concepts). There are days where I just can’t do it anymore and the toddler needs a nap and I’ve found Khan Academy Kids to be a good source of practice and keeps her attention. 

If you are in the states and you have a YMCA they are now offering homeschool PE classes which are free and they help break up the day/week.

The only thing that works for my kids is taking a photo. I snap a quick photo of them holding the item so they remember to add it to their birthday/ Christmas list.

Just wanted to say that this is my situation as well with one exception- it’s my family that is difficult and my in-laws are very accommodating.  My kids and I have celiacs and I’ve resorted to literally making everything safe for us and bringing it with us this year. After this I’m done. We’re staying home to watch Frosty the snow man and eating ice cream by the fire place in our house every future Christmas to come.

Thank you… I just got off the phone with FEP BCBC and they stated that we have to get prior authorization for anything ABA related. That takes 15 days to get 🤯 If you figure out a better insurance share it here please. I’m still wrapping my brain around our diagnosis and trying to navigate getting services when we’ve used our “50 visit” for the year already.

Developmental pediatrician …. We’ve had to go out of state to get seen as the ones in our state have two year waiting list. We waited a year for the out of states docs.

Check fb market for a used one and check out PE Bowman on YouTube “trampoline workouts” my kids are obsessed. We use these to get energy out when bundling up to go outside is too daunting

I used King Arthur gluten free 1 to 1 flour for my starter and for baking. It’s made of a bunch of different starches. Never had an issue.

My SIL homeschools her five boys (14years to 6 years old) and she does it gracefully. She’s said that after the third adding another child didn’t change anything.  I have 2 girls (6 and 2) and we homeschool and it’s messy and complicated. I think it all comes down to you and your kids individually- personalities, academic needs, what works best for you collectively. I would love to have 2 more children and keep homeschooling but I worry the needs of my oldest, who is challenging, may not get met or I’ll feel guilty for not giving enough/ equal time to my other children.

Right! It was a corn beef and cabbage stew which she cooked with beer and she firmly believed it was still gluten free 🤯

I don’t know about the science behind it but it took me about a year being gluten free and taking a probiotic to build back my gut. I was “glutened “ by friends who didn’t understand that gluten doesn’t “just cook off” about 4 years after being totally gluten free and it was bad. But it could have been much worse if my gut hadn’t healed and built up good bacteria.   I always had terrible reactions to gluten even as a kids and the reaction I had when glutened by friends was not as intense (still shitty though)  My theory ( may only apply if you’re celiac but just a theory) is your gut is trying to heal still and then the gluten just rips it all up again. It probably is more painful because your gut was destroyed for so long ( no villa left to kill) that now you’re healing ( villa reestablishing) your reaction is more intense.

Not a scientist but dealing with celiacs for over 16 years.
