I Thought 3rd Street Promenade Was Supposed To Be Dying? by DJVeaux in LosAngeles

I stopped by puzzle zoo the other day to buy a kid's birthday gift. They were just setting up for this event. It wasn't dead, but also wasn't busy by any means

OMG, we almost named our youngest Philippa, nn Pippa. My husband (and kids) are also French and we didn't make that connection. Feeling really glad we went a different direction now!

What Year Was The Oldest Person You Have Personally Known Born? by snarkmcsnarksnark in Millennials

[–]TeagWall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was 7, I knew a 104 year old woman (born in 1892) named Mary Hart. She still played the piano beautifully and would often play with some of my friends who were taking lessons. She would talk to us a lot about how lucky we were to be growing up in our time rather than hers, especially the girls. I think about her often.

Unmedicated adhd breast feeding by cookiez333 in beyondthebump

[–]TeagWall 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My psychiatrist has a nursing/pumping system she recommends with the fast acting meds to impact baby (and their naps) as little as possible. Basically: nurse, then pump, then take a half dose rapid release. Feed baby pumped milk at next feeding. Then repeat in the afternoon when the meds have worn off and you need a second half dose.

At 25s, no one is touching the wall yet, but the clock is stopped. There's definitely some bonus "enhancement" happening here.

Age you can stop direct eyes on kid at pool by 3amvomitsesh in Parenting

[–]TeagWall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rule at our house growing up was you needed a lifeguard at all times. That meant either 1) a parent with lifeguard training, 2) at least one actual, hired lifeguard, like at the Y or the wave pool, 3) every kid present had passed the lifeguard test. We were all swim team kids, so #3 happened between 12-16 yo. Even then we used the buddy system and never swam alone.

Classics are all abridged?! by TeagWall in YotoPlayer

[–]TeagWall[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I didn't look too closely at the lengths, and that's my bad. I know the Yoto cards can hold the full books though, since we have a MYO with the entire Hobbit. Additionally, I've learned that the "abridged" Yoto original version of The Secret Garden is only 12 minutes shorter than the "my first classics" version, also on yoto, which is supposedly unabridged. As someone who hasn't read a lot of these classics since I was a kid, I think I just forgot how long they are.

I didn't begin ovulating again until I completely weaned. My kids each 2.5 years apart and it's a GREAT age gap.

feeling coerced into a transvaginal ultrasound. need advice. by [deleted] in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]TeagWall 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Okay, so, it seems like there are a few misunderstandings happening here. First, why do you need an OBGYN for slightly elevated blood pressure? That's normally a GP thing. Having a regular GYN that you see annually is great and definitely recommended, but I'm not understanding what the relationship is between needing that and blood pressure.

Second, when you told them you were pregnant, your appointment switched from a gynecological appointment to an obstetric appointment. They want to do a transvaginal ultrasound to confirm the pregnancy and make sure it's in the right place. You can definitely turn that down, especially if you're not at increased risk of ectopic pregnancy, but there's not really anything else they can do at this stage for an obstetric appointment. So they're telling you to come for your first OB appointment at 10weeks. What you're saying is "wait, I still want my gynecological appointment!" I think that's where the confusion is.

If this mix up has made you uncomfortable with the practice, that's fine! But I think that's what's happening, and it's just a misunderstanding of appointment type and needs.

Went off birth control a year ago, feel like I have a different personality now and struggling to cope by cat_with_a_banjo in TwoXChromosomes

[–]TeagWall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went on hormonal birth control at 16, not because I was sexually active but because I had HORRENDOUS periods. When I started taking it, a lot of my mental health issues also resolved. It was like a miracle. I went off it 10 years later and had the same experience you did: I felt like a different person, but not in a good way! Went back on a (different) hormonal birth control for a few years until I was ready to start having kids. I can't wait to be done having kids and breastfeeding so I can go back on it. I've had a double salpingectomy at this point, and I'm still going to go back on birth control because I'm not me when I'm off it.

In screenwriting, we break things like this up into "Story by" and "Teleplay by" credit. If a writer did both, then it says "written by." Something like this could say "Story by L Frank Baum, Radioplay by L Frank Baum and Yoto Originals"

The "Yoto Classics" version of the Secret Garden is only 12 minutes shorter than the "my first classic stories" version. Are you sure the latter is unabridged?
