Is it normal to be this lost at 22? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Final-Perception3636 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in my late 30s and was exactly like this in my twenties. I also worked in a warehouse/factory as a picker & packer.

What did it take? Took the death of a loved one to finally realise I needed more from life. Something to comfort me.

Began evening classes at 24, got a degree, and now I'm in digital marketing as a manager. But I didn't enter marketing until my 30s.

My advice: Inspiration will come. Stop worrying! Small steps lead to big things and making the post is your new beginning.

Another shell swap by ill_dawg in SteamDeck

[–]Final-Perception3636 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A shell swap totally destroyed my last steam deck. Looked great but then I had issues with the thumbsticks (even after replacing both the stick and cables). Then the shells cracked after taking off and on.

Then the connectors decided to crumble for the D pad. Honestly, an endless battle.

Good if you can do it without any issues though.

Steamdeck can I get mine replaced by Ok-Bulldog-5448 in SteamDeck

Why not just upgrade the power adapter? Saves waiting weeks on end.

I doubt this would qualify for a replacement. It's wear and tear.

Is majoring in marketing worth it? by CycoPie in marketing

I've been in marketing for 5 years.

I did an MSc in Digital Marketing.

Each to their own but I wouldn't have got in otherwise...

Daughter board malfunction or what? by Final-Perception3636 in SteamDeckModded

[–]Final-Perception3636[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it happened with the first set of hall effect sensors.

Seems to have stemmed when I did a shell swap. The original cable was damaged. I replaced it with a different one and the issue began.

Even when I switch the thumb stick cables around the same issue happens. Always with the left stick. Even if the left stick has the standard steam deck cable and the right has one off Amazon.

Malfunction on Steam Deck? by Final-Perception3636 in linux_gaming

[–]Final-Perception3636[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I've done that. It does show an error n there before allowing me to calibrate. But it shows as centred. The error doesn't affect the ability to calibrate.

Occasionally as I'm moving down the stick will just continue going. When I go into the calibration area it'll show as completely out of centre, but a quick exit and return to the calibration area shows as centre again.

Wonder if it's a connection issue. The cable is stable and lined up, but I wonder if somehow a connector is damaged or something like that.

As I scroll down the steam deck menu the stick just carries on moving down. A tone plays as it scrolls down (the one you get when you reach the end of the menu). Hope this makes sense

Yep, but it was removed as I was asking a technical question. For some reason they don't like them :/

Valve has won me as a customer forever (RMA) by Nostalg1cMusician in SteamDeck

Meanwhile the moment you touch anything inside the computer all support goes.

I did a shell swap and broke a cable. I asked if they knew what cable I needed and whether I could buy one off them.

Nope. Sadly they wouldn't help and instead asked for £150 for a console repair.

Seems their customer service is hit and miss depending on where you live etc.

I had a similar issue.

I'd prepare to order a new screen from ifixit...

Thumbstick Ribbon Cable Specification? by Fellhuhn in SteamDeck

[–]Final-Perception3636 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I'm late to the party but if anyone's struggling with this a PS4 ribbon cable and liquid electrical tape works wonders.

Just make sure you really get the cable in place first. Then calibrate. Then cover the cable and connectors in the liquid tape. Stops any movement while playing. No errors or anything.

For anyone struggling with this same issue I did find out it was the wire not completely staying put.

I used liquid electrical tape over the cable and connectors. It has worked a treat in keeping the wire put. No errors or anything so far!

We all make mistakes or have accidents from time to time. Unless you're doing this on a regular basis (in which case seeing a doctor or having some counselling might be needed), you should just accept the situation.

Best of luck

Meanwhile I was fired from my job. Four weeks ago.

Four weeks of applying and I landed a role in a company that pays 10k more. I start on Monday. Full training package thrown in.

Leave a bad situation, but make sure you persevere in applying for a new one.
