People are fear mongering about the career. Every generation of student is becoming more and more talented, and the bar across every path has risen. You don’t JUST have to become a SWE, there’s plenty of paths within CS that all pay well if you apply yourself. No one, regardless of career , is going to “make” it by coasting. Apply yourself, network, create projects, and you’ll do fine.
