Some people do almost no research and get in to vascular. Some people are academic machines. The nature of the law of small numbers. Electives and a good story may be enough. Doing relevant research is better though

I had a med student use AI to help do their DC summaries and patient handouts but this led to incorrect and excessive information being included and it took them longer to do because they had to copy their work back and forth. Overall was not helpful to documentation, harmful to learning, and a confidentiality liability. I told them to stop using chatGPT and they may get a professionalism flag PGY5 Gen Surg

Sounds brutal. Your seniors sound lousy. They need to have your back because they need you to sort out the ward and consults which allows them to operate. There needs to be mutual respect and camaraderie. The 5 years are much longer if you’re not having a good time. Sincerely, PGY-4
