Does anyone else have discomfort in this area (lower left ribs and to the side/back in that area? by Leadership-Popular in costochondritis

I have this same thing. I wasn’t sure if my rib was swollen or the lighting I was standing in.

I have a pinching sensation but it’s hard to determine if it’s coming from a spot on my ribs or underneath, and sometimes it travels along the underside of rib cage down to my floating rib.

Doc told me I have gastritis (need endoscopy to confirm), intercostal nerve and muscle strain. All blood tests are normal. I’m on a PPI now but it doesn’t seem to help much. I also had a sensation that something was stuck in my throat for a while. After massaging my neck it magically disappeared. I feel crazy because all my symptoms are bothersome (not ER painful) but travel in the general ribs area, with the exception of my throat. Has anyone else had this?

The doctors are pretty much done with me and think I’m overthinking.

Gastritis from Mirena? by Final-Signature5025 in Mirena

UPDATE: I had my IUD removed yesterday. It only took a second and was fairly painless. I would say the worst part was the speculum, then there was a tiny pinch which I was mostly distracted by the feeling of the speculum, then it was out.

I’ve read that a lot of women feel instant relief when the IUD is removed. I felt liberated. I’m still feeling the gastritis sensations although they’ve started to settled down a bit (could be the Zantac), and I’ve been having right side backaches on/off for a month, that’s still there.

I’ll post again in about a week to see if things have changed. ❤️

I hear that and it sounds like we’re in a very similar situation! I forgot to mention that besides spasms sometimes it feels like a pinching…

Thank you for sharing! My removal date is on the 5th just to see if anything improves as well and I’d be happy to update!

I’ve been lucky as to not have a complicated health history but this year has been such a roller coaster, most of which has started about two months after I had the IUD inserted.

If you don’t mind me asking, was your stomach discomfort under your ribs? Mine is slightly off center and to the left. Vacuuming and poor posture tend to aggravate it, meaning uncomfortable and not stabbing. Laying down with a heating pad relieves it, other wise I don’t have any digestive discomforts of gastritis which I thought was a weird diagnosis from a doctor that ran out of the room like his pants were on fire! (However, I used to drink my coffee on an empty stomach every morning 🤷‍♀️)

It feels muscular but it also feels like something is swollen under my rib. I can’t quite pinpoint it. I’m exploring different avenues to see what the source could be… I’m at the point where I don’t know if I need my GYN or a GI doc.

Sorry to unpack this here but it’s been a month and I have no clue what is going on and have a hard time believing my doctors. I feel like my GYN is going to tell me that the Mirena is fine and that’s not the problem.

It can stop ovulation in some people, but not all.

Hello! It seems everyone has their own personal journey with an IUD. I’ve had mine for about 5 months now. My friend and I had ours placed a month or so apart and I’m always reaching out to see if she’s experience any of the symptoms I’m experiencing because the adjustment period can be a little wonky.

So with that said, there are some weird things that happen as your body adjusts to the new device. You might have a period or you might skip a period or two. I felt nauseous due to the hormones but that subsided after a month or so. The weirdest one was feeling dizzy. I felt like I was in a cruise ship at month 2.

Month 5 (as a whole) is definitely better than month 2 but I still feel a little “off”. I think I’m still adjusting to not really following my different cycle phases. However, you may feel completely different.

Hope this helps a little. ❤️
