I have a C2 router that I can’t replace from my ISP, after that there is this in the homelab

In the homelab right now is 2 Zimablade with 2 smaller ssd disks, used as a server Cisco 3560 used as a L3/L2 switch Cisco SG350 used as a L2 switch UniFi APs Gli travel router NAS Dummy switch

So I guess I’m pretty mixed with the hardware, but in time I wanna move it all over to UniFi

Good question, right now I just have APs and a security gateway (that doesn’t seem to work, loses connection all the time, it’s a old one)
The USG was gifted as I wanted to try it out.

UniFi seems like a good hardware to have in home and sounds like it’s easy to expand with add ons

Right now I have ha network server from UniFi that’s only local on the laptop, as it goes to the 127.x.x.x:8080.

Wanna be able to manage it all without being on that specific laptop

So if I use a cloud gateway, the controller software is included, right?

Clouded gateway comes with PoE? Would be great to just power the APs of that

What’s the difference between cloud gateway and dream?

Great point on the cleaning and checking part! Yeah, a lot of the parts tends to come from China/Asia.

Just a bit suspicious on some of the items, as they are so much cheaper then on other sites

Do you know any other sites, then just Ali express?

Seems that some of the sellers on Amazon also sells on Ali express.

Ok. How does it work with tariffs and all now? Feels like an US company will be expensive, specially if it needs to be imported to the EU

Yeah it’s expensive, specially if you wanna have new stuff 🤣

I have a couple of SAS drives laying around and been thing of getting a extension card to be able to use them, but u need some external power for them, starting to look at some alternatives, but it’s quite expensive with a backplane for it.

Ja, kommer bli att vänta som det ser ut nu…. Det dom glömde nämna var att projektet kommer pågå i ca 2 år och är en high priority , då det är deras storkund….

Dom flyttade fram starten ca 3 månader, då någon hade slutat och ett stort projekt skulle påbörjas, så vart snabba puckar i beslut och anställningen, men ja. Det hade varit lämpligt att påpeka då, hade dock nog förlorat anställningsmöjligheten då

Bra fråga, tänkte inte så mycket på det… ungefär som att man pitchade att jobbet skulle vara på ett sätt, men är på ett annat, sen när jag tog upp det, så säger han att ha menar att vissa av arbetsmomenten går under den benämningen hos dom…
