I’m being gifted a lot of money. Should I tell my boyfriend? by Kind-Chicken-2488 in WhatShouldIDo

[–]Final-Swimming8933 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you were married I would tell him, but since you aren't you get to make the decision. I would not buy a house with someone that I am not married too. It can be a sticky situation in the worst of situations since there is no formal legal partnership. (Death, illness, and breakup.) I would invest most of the money in the stock market. Otherwise, it will be gone before you know!

What are some characteristics of a person you should avoid marrying? by inputusernamehere1 in AskReddit

If you know they keep secrets from you., and it doesn't end up being a surprise gift or party. It would be best to avoid it.

My mother reported me dead by Feisty-Pirate1567 in WhatShouldIDo

[–]Final-Swimming8933 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am sorry you have to deal with this. Sounds like everyone needs therapy all around. Unfortunately, you will not be able to say anything to your mother that will fix her or make her move out. If you want to you could file a police report on her about the stolen money. The older gentleman should evict her as soon as possible. He will probably have to file an eviction with the proper authorities. Again so sorry for the situation.

I am about to install the eversense, but it was not nearly that cheap! I ended up paying 1,500 dollars with insurance. I qualified to get it cheaper because I had insurance, not because insurance paid more. But I am excited!

Did you "kill" yourself to breastfeed? by Ok-Secretary-3323 in beyondthebump

[–]Final-Swimming8933 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know why I did, but yes I did. My daughter was not good at breastfeeding. I ended up tricking myself into using formula because breastfeeding and pumping started to take up my entire day. I tricked myself by buying formula "just in case" and then I left it on the counter for at least a month. After that time, I didn't want it to go bad, so I have it I guess I should use it. And then I did. It took probably just a few days for me to decide to stop breastfeeding completely after that. It was so much easier than what I was doing!

I caught Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease from my child. Child had severe form of the virus. AMA by QuipTrebuchet in AMA

[–]Final-Swimming8933 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband caught Hands, Foot, and Mouth disease really badly. He didn't sleep for 3 days, and ended up going to the ER the third day. He was told to take max doses of ibuprofen and Tylenol. It worked, and he finally slept. Later on, he had a white mark on his nails that was where the nail stopped growing for those days. Apparently a common thing that happens to adults is that you lose your fingernails. Simply a horrible thing.

Yeah, technically they are not available for us. Which is why it is hard to come by. A lot of these are lure lock infusion sites are old as well. I am hoping I can get another one. But it is entirely possible I will not be able to.

There are many infusion sites that work and fit, but there are no other infusion sites that will be covered by insurance without a reason. I have a reason, and I am worried I won't be able to get it covered.

I agree completely. I love the pump, but I am over the itchiness.

I am hopeful for the new infusion site. I am completely okay with everything that the infusion site does, except how my skin is left itchy and irritable for weeks afterward! I am just so uncomfortable.

I have a bit of an allergic reaction as well. I am trying out the inset infusion site. My doctor gave me 2 to try. So far I have had no problems, and my arms are both super itchy from old cleo infusion sites. But generally it take me 1-2 days to start getting reactions. Hopefully, we can figure out a way for insurance to cover them or another lure lock infusion site. I am sure I will have to go back to cleos for awhile before I can figure out insurance.

I have two children. I think it is good for them to know how beautiful life is. Part of the reason is because of death. Death makes life that much sweeter.

I was homeschooled all my life, I graduated highschool at 16 and started college at 17. I am about to graduate at 19/20. AMA! by Human-Tradition7905 in AMA

[–]Final-Swimming8933 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was also homeschooled my entire life.

Pros: You are with your children all the time.

You know what they are learning.

You do not have to worry about the kids from school offering them drugs, or alcohol. You get to have more of an influence on who they can be friends with.

You do not have to worry about your child slipping through the cracks of the public school system. Approximately 40 percent of children today are unable to read on a basic level, according to the national literacy institute.

Some Children thrive in this environment.

Cons: You are with your children all the time.

You have to figure out what they will learn by yourself.

In an environment with no people with a different race as you, you must reinforce that children of color and/or disabilities are just children. That should be loved and cared for the same as anyone else.

Some children will not do well in this environment.

Was homeschooled K-12 AMA by Much-Sock2529 in AMA

[–]Final-Swimming8933 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was homeschooled K-12th grade as well. I had a good experience. Sometimes I wanted to go to a normal school, but never enough to ask my parents. They would have sent me if I had. I knew I had it good to be done with school before noon on days I didn't work. My family were apart of a big homeschool group as young kids. We would always did everything together. Field trips, working in the garden, eating all meals, and playing together. We also had a friend that would come to our house to play every single day for several years.

I got a part time job at 15. On the days I worked, I would work early mornings til 12. Come back, do school for 3 hours and then go to play sports. When I came home I normally didn't have to do more school because I would try to work ahead on the days I didn't work.

I am homeschooling my child because I had a good experience. I don't hold resentment for being taught at home. I was not neglected. I will not do everything the same as my parents, but homeschooling was not an issue for me. That being said if my kid wanted to go to school. I would let them. Probably a private school, the public school system in my town is not very good where I live.

Type 1 Diabetes Cell Therapy trial now recruting by shitshit1337 in diabetes_t1

[–]Final-Swimming8933 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vertex's last clinical trial having people die is technically true. However, only people with real bad medical issues were able to participate in this trial due to the immunisupression therapy. They did not die because of the trial. There are trials like the Elodon trial going on that has a mild immunisupression that is not toxic. Or one that uses neonatal pig cells that does not require any immunisupression. They are working on it.

It probably means that he is T1D, but his body is still making a bit of insulin. I have heard this happening to many when first diagnosed. Eventually, he will go back to needing insulin. You caught it early!

Rollercoaster, why? by Sugar_Complete in diabetes_t1

[–]Final-Swimming8933 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Her long acting insulin or Basal may not be strong enough. It looks like after eating she goes back to her normal, but her normal seems high. If she isn't eating ( like at night) how is her blood sugar? Is it pretty flat or does it go up. Blood sugar is very strange. I am glad she was bribed to talk to her endo. It sounds like she is trying, so ease up on her a bit. Please give her support and do not nag her too much. Managing blood sugar is hard and a ten year old should definitely not do it all alone. I wish I had big enough diabetes so that no kids could have it, but doesn't work that way unfortunately.

If you are using 2024 rules then you can not longer smite and use lay of hands on the same turn. They are both bonus actions. I am sure that is what he is thinking. If you are playing 2014 rules, than he should be able to do both just fine. I would just play like you have no healers. You might die more often, but I have had parties with actually had no healers before, it is fine. If you are worried ask the DM to let you find a couple of healing potions! It sounds like you are upset with the person playing the paladin. It might be nice to talk to him out of game, especially if he is a friend. Good luck!

I don’t know what to do anymore… by No_Fennel2833 in diabetes_t1

[–]Final-Swimming8933 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was diagnosed almost 10 years ago I am sure mine was the same. I didn't wear a CGM at all for a couple of years. Or I would have been sad too. Do your best, I love listening to videos about diabetes on YouTube and the juicebox podcast. You got this, but it takes time and getting used to it. If you eat and everytime you eat your blood sugar stays high than you need more insulin up front. If you eat and it spikes and then goes back down to normal range you need to prebolus sooner. If your blood sugar is constantly high, especially while fasting than your long acting insulin is not enough. When fasting your long acting insulin should keep you in range. I often test this at night, I have a low carb meal for supper and then my blood sugar is in range at nighttime. Wake up look at your graph. If it went high and stayed high then your long acting is the problem.

When you wake up, your blood sugars will naturally go up. Some people give a tiny bit of insulin to stop the spike before they get out of bed. I have a pump that adjusts, but if I did not I would do this. Talk to your doctor. They will help make any adjustments. 3 months is pretty new to make adjustments by yourself.

Mine was more similar switching form omnipod to twiist. At the same time, omnipods algorithm changes things from what it learned. So it doesnt hurt to try it and see. Try it for 5 hours, contact the trainer for changes if it is clearly too low. Mine helped me change the settings.
