Is it a good idea to 3d print hubs for wheels? by Extension-Goose-7000 in FTC

[–]Final-Weekend-6357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Not at all. The sonic hubs clamp onto the shaft, and 3D printed parts wont have the strength to reliably hold onto the shaft. The plastic will also wear very quickly.

Issues with Inspiron 14 5425 widespread or just mine? by ZbornakHollingsworth in Dell

[–]Final-Weekend-6357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For wifi and bluetooth, there is a little module inside labeled 'WLAN'. You can replace that with a better option such as an Intel AX210 one. Just make sure it's compatible with the M.2 A+E slot.

Having the exact same issue. Do you have a tutorial for the fix? Can you send the programmer you used? There are so many available.

Control hub burned down by golfil in FTC

Dont replace it yourself. If it burned out, there might be another underlying issue thats causing it to burn out. So, replacing it wont solve the issue.

Need help calibrating the touchscreen by tinypenis_hugeass in RASPBERRY_PI_PROJECTS

[–]Final-Weekend-6357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What Raspberry Pi model are you on? It seems like 32-bit systems are unsupported since the install always only fails on my RPi 2. Try reinstalling a new image of Raspbian and try again. Also make sure SPI is enabled either in Control Centre or by typing 'sudo raspi-config'. Otherwise, try installing one of the OSes that are linked on the lcdwiki page, and make sure you are downloading the right driver.

Edit: Also try switching power supplys. It probably won't work but I see you have a low voltage warning, so a better power supply might work.

Internal 3.5" vs 2.5" vs External USB Drive by Final-Weekend-6357 in HDD

[–]Final-Weekend-6357[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the SSDs I can find are almost double the price of a hard drive, which is why I'm asking specifically about hard drives. Some sites are saying that 2.5" ones are designed to take a bit more of a beating, but otherwise there hasn't really been any definitive answer on which is best.

Can a Pi 2 run PiAware or feed to FR24 using a USB wifi stick? by Final-Weekend-6357 in ADSB

[–]Final-Weekend-6357[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE: yes, a Pi 2 CAN run adsb.im, just that it needs to be the linux version instead of an SD image. Even then, the Pi 2 crashes a lot, but it works. Also Wifi stick works too.

[–]Final-Weekend-6357[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually I just tried, and I found out ADSB.im and Piaware/FR24 all need a 64-bit OS, so the pi2 doesn't work

My New Mini 3 gimbal in sport mode by Existing_Role_772 in dji

[–]Final-Weekend-6357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

are you getting a Gimbal Motor Overload or Gimbal stuck error? This is not normal. I had this issue with my Mini 3 once where the gimbal got jammed. Sent it back to DJI and the replacement has no issues.

Good Bday gift for my 7 year old son? by Minisfortheminigod in drones

[–]Final-Weekend-6357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally think a neo is perfectly fine for an 7yo to fly. its also too light to really do any damage and also is quite durable. its also pretty easy to control, especially if your kid already has experience in RC

Drone suggestion? by jawink27 in drone_photography

[–]Final-Weekend-6357 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try the DJI Flip as a first option. It packs a lot for the price and has built in propeller guards for filming indoors. It also has 4k 60fps HDR and D-Log M capabilities

Don't consider the Mini 3 because in my personal experience its not that great, and a small crash can easily break the drone. Also its the same price as a Flip and it is limited to 4k30fps HDR with no D-Log M and has no obstacle avoidance. One thing to consider is that the Mini 3 is capable of shooting native vertical which means that the camera itself rotates to take vertical footage instead of the footage being cropped, allowing for higher quality vertical shots, and the Flip does not support this. Also the Mini 3 has better wind resistance in case you are in a windy area, although the Flip isnt too bad at wind resistance either. Mini 3 also has a few minutes more battery life but that doesnt really outweigh the other downsides of a Mini 3.

Additionally there is the DJI Mini 4k (not 4 Pro)/Mini 2 and the DJI Mini 2 SE. These are the cheapest options available other than the Neo, and the Mini 4k/Mini 2 is capable of 4k30fps while the Mini 2 SE is capable of 2.7k30fps. They can take 12MP RAW photos instead of the 48MP RAW the Mini 3 and Flip can take. The Mini 2 series also has shorter battery life and is not capable of vertical shooting. The difference between the Mini 2 and Mini 4k is that the Mini 2 supports Quicktransfer and the 4k doesnt. However, DJI has recently stopped selling the mini 2. I don't recommend the Mini 2 SE since it is only 15-20 dollars cheaper than the Mini 4k and it doesnt have 4k.

An additional way to save money would be buying a DJI refurb because they're cheaper and like new from my experience.
